I am a massive fan of the tribe TV series, and it only seemed logical to get the book after watching it, so after receiving it I sat down and read the whole thing through, which was no challenge due to the books fantastic writing and incisive reporting.The best aspect I found was that the book does not re-tell the series, more so it fills in the background for each tribe, the people behind the series, and the events that were either not captured on camera or deemed not suitable for broadcast - it delves into the less glamorous side of filming, the ailments, the problems, the danger, while keeping the nostalgic story of each tribe intactA superb read and as stated above, a great partner to the TV series

I watched the television series and loved it. Bruce Parry is inspirational. However, I didn't want to be lumbered with a clunky box set of dvdd so I browsed online and found this little gem. If you loved the TV series, then I can't recommend this book enough. It's a great compliment to a landmark TV show.

A great series of vignettes examining different lifestyles, beliefs and experiences of sine of the world’s still less connected peoples. Combining Parry’s total commitment to each project, with his pithy observations and sheer enjoyment of the various tasks he undertakes, makes this a thoroughly enjoyable read and I will try to track down the TV Series as I am sure this too will be hugely entertaining. He writes fluently and well and by bringing in his support team into each visit, you get a great insight into not only the different worlds as they connect, but also the planning and detail that go into making a TV program. A great read and insight into many disappearing worlds.

I bought this at a very competitive price & it arrived undamaged & on time. All I need now is the time to read!!

I love watching BP's TV adventures, he has an ability to relate to all forms of cultures, whether in the Amazon or in the heart of Africa. This book keeps the narrative and gives you an insight into the different tribes that Bruce has managed to visit.
