a rare find: a sturdy, yet inexpensive desk
DISCLAIMERBased on reading all of the reviews and personally assembling this desk myself, you should use a drill. If you don't own a drill, pay the extra fee during checkout for someone to come and assemble this desk for you. It will save you from reading all the negative reviews where people complained about struggling to put this together. Also, as a young man going through puberty in the 1980s, I looked forward to "reviewing" the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue every year. I had posters of Kathy Ireland on my wall, which made this product purchase was a no brainer. If this super model could help me during my darkest teenage years, then her foresight to license her name and likeness for this desk should motivate me to be more productive for the years to come. Right?PACKAGESThe "L" shaped desk arrived in 3 packages; they are not labeled in any kind of order in which you should open them, but I recommend starting with the smaller ones as they contain almost all of the base metal parts and hardware for assembly. The largest box contains the long table top. All of the parts were in my box along with some spare screws; thank you Kathy Ireland for inspecting my shipment and keeping on top of the quality control.PRE-ASSEMBLYBefore I began assembling, I applied basic logic and my understanding of physics while living on Earth; I assembled the base first and added the table tops after. I read a lot of reviews where people complained about assembling this upside down and then had to flip the table over. This didn't make sense for me because I was putting this together by myself in a small office. If you try flipping the entire desk over by yourself, you will likely put too much pressure on the legs and damage them or the connection point under the table top. If you're having trouble strategizing, assembling, locating where this desk should go, or any other of life's questions, you need to ask yourself "What would Kathy Ireland do in this situation?"ACTUAL ASSEMBLYAssembly required some reading on the instructions. If you can't read, then you're not reading my review, but you can make do by matching parts to the diagrams within each package. I set the desk up where the shorter side was on the left versus the right; a lot of people were confused about this. Did you really think Kathy would leave us hanging like that? I did not have any problem with lining up holes. My only complaint to the manufacturer (This is not on Kathy BTW) is that they should consider using one type of screw; pick a faction...hex or phillips-head so we can stick to one tool for the job. Also, would it have killed you to include an inspirational poster of Kathy? That would have been amazing. I took off a star off my review for this very reason.FINAL THOUGHTSJust like you, I was initially skeptical. I kept asking myself "What does Kathy Ireland have to do with office equipment?"And then it dawned on me. Whether you're whipping up sick pivot tables, desktop publishing, surfing the internet super highway, or just some friendly online gambling, I believe Kathy has our best intentions in mind and wants us to enjoy a simple, modern, and sturdy office desk.

Acquire Help in Assembling
The desk is sturdy once completely built. The tabletop is a strong composite wood laminate. When you knock on it you get the sense of its strength. If you need some sense of stability then this desk is for you. There are a couple cons:1) Acquire some assistance. The instruction manual even says to. The desk is heavy and you have to construct it upside down at first, so get a friend to help you flip it back up. Constructing the table is also where the tabletop's strength becomes a problem. There are pilot holes for the screws, but the material is still very tough to get through. I ruined a couple drill bits getting them in, and you have to make sure you apply adequate pressure to the power drill.***You will NOT be able to complete this desk without a power drill.***In addition, installing the 30" return was extremely difficult. To get the screws flush with the table I had to turn the clutch adjustment up high and put weight on top of the desk. Even then it was difficult to get the screws fully in. I used a very impressive power drill, but you may need to rent an even more powerful one from the hardware store.2) Lack of color choices. I bought the desk because of the design, not for the color. I wish they had a few more color options. I think a grey/blue color would've been an interesting option to pair with the legs.I feel like the difficulty I had in building the desk is worth two stars. It was very difficult and the screws just would not go in. If you need a desk of this design that feels sturdy, then certainly purchase this desk. However, if you're needing something sturdy, but also easy to construct ... there may be better options out there.

Perfect L-shaped desk for home office
I bought this for my home office. I had a smaller normal size desk for the longest time and was outgrowing it because I'd use it for not only to telework from home on occasion, but also to do my makeup every morning. The new L-shape is perfect - one side for my work/laptop and the other side for my growing makeup collection and large mirror. The desk arrives in pieces, different boxes. I had a neighbor help me bring them up 2 flights of stairs. Also, the boxes have ample packaging/styrofoam - so I didn't receive any damaged pieces. Putting the desk together wasn't the fastest process, but it wasn't horrible with 2 people. I really like the L-shape and bigger size of the desk. Overall, really happy with this purchase so far and the desk space it provides.

Desk is Great!
This Desk is great! Although it took longer than expected/quoted to arrive, it was worth the wait. It has plenty of room for multiple computers screens and comfortability. If you've ever assembled anything before and have an impact/drill, assembly is extremely simple. It's extremely durable and surprisingly holds up with no scratches when my dogs jump up and put their paws on it. I highly recommend!

Perfect
Excellent size for my 49" Samsung monitor, laptop light phone stand and headset with plenty of room left over to work. Super easy and fast to assemble. inexpensive cable organizers attached to the bottom from Home Depot made this the perfect minimalist addition to my office, replacing an old bulky desk.

Great product, some small hassles that got resolved
This is a great product and very sturdy. However, parts were mislabeled, screws were missing, as were some levelers for the legs. Even though the parts were mislabeled I was able to use the ones that were sent. I had to go out and buy the missing screws, a small hassle but OK. I called Bush Furniture about the missing levelers and they sent them right out so all is well.

Very Impressed
This is a massive, heavy AND sturdy desk. I’m seriously impressed by how well this is made. It’s also very easy to put together it took me just under an hour. The only reason it even took an hour to do was because I had to physically move the pieces around. Just a tip, you will need a drill to put this together.
