An insightful look into self-healing
This book was so fantastic. I appreciated Shane Stott's sense of humor and candid way of sharing his history of mental illness and how he was able to find a solution to the problem without necessarily relying on tons of pills for the rest of his life. His explanation of what it's like to deal with anxiety and panic attacks was easy to relate to due to the fact that I've dealt with that for most of my adult life. Though I've found ways of coping without the use of pills, I'm grateful to have discovered yet another avenue of self-healing that encompasses many areas of thought that I have begun to adopt over the years. His attention to different types of stress and how it affects our central nervous system was helpful. The science behind the disorder and the science behind float tanks and why they help us physically and mentally is sound, well written and easy to follow. I was especially impressed with his initiative in creating a float tank for himself when buying one was such a financial challenge. It's the mark of someone searching for a solution to his problems and willing to go the distance to find that solution. The idea that he's sharing it with others is icing on the cake. I highly recommend this book to people struggling with stress, mental disorders and health issues or for anyone truly interested in something both healthy and worthwhile.

Takes Meditation To A Whole New Level!
“The meditation that happens in a float tank is something much deeper and more profound than any meditation that can be done outside of the tank.”As someone who deals with anxiety and depression I was searching for new ways to combat my own inner turmoil and seek peace and simplicity. Coming across Shane’s book I was intrigued and found out about floating. Shane has a wonderful, believable writing style as he takes his readers on his own personal journey of discovery. Remarkable is finding out that it isn’t a new thing as I found out the history of floating and that it is not just for relieving stress and anxiety but also a natural form of pain relief. Readers like myself will be captivated in this amazing introduction to floating with a desire to attain their own float tank. This takes meditation to a whole new level! Excellent find in really achieving total peace and serenity in a world full of stress and chaos. “There’s nothing more valuable than a healthy, happy mind and body.”

Something to think about
The Float Tank Cure is the interesting real life story of how Shane Stott was able to use floating in a float tank to help him bring himself out of the deep hole that is depression, anxiety and panic. The great thing about this story is that Stott’s writing style makes the book very relatable. He uses a conversational style of writing to tell us about some very sensitive pieces of his history and how he was able to turn things around. I found the fact that he was able to bring himself out of a dark place to be very reassuring. As if to say that anyone can do it. I also found what he describes in the book is something that I think many of us have experienced at some point in our lives. Maybe not deliberately for the purpose of soothing ourselves, but in an innocent instance. I can remember times, for instance, where I have been able to simply zone out while floating in a pool. It is very peaceful and centering. While this is not quite the same as deliberate meditation while floating, the sensation, to me, seems similar. If you are looking for a great way to sooth some of your inner demons then this book has some ideas that may be worth considering.

Well Done
The Float Tank Cure: Free Yourself from Stress, Anxiety, and Pain the Natural Way by Shane Stott is a blend of one man’s story and the uses of a product that take meditation to the next level. Shane begins his writing by telling us his personal story. He explains that he once lived in Los Angeles and had a job in the music industry. Due to the high levels of stress and long hours associated with the industry, Shane had a hard time relaxing at the end of his all too long days. To handle this, he turned to alcohol to induce relaxation. Anyone who has ever drank to relax and then not gotten enough sleep can tell you that this is a recipe for disaster. Shane’s world continued to spiral until he hit rock bottom. Panic attacks and bouts of depression set in. Eventually, he was forced to move back to Utah with his family to receive treatment. There he gained an understanding of meditation and built his own float bed. From this point on, Shane goes on to explain what a float bed is and its proper uses. Basically, a float bed puts the human body into water and cuts off sound, feeling, and other distractions from true meditation. By doing this, the human brain is then able to truly slip away from the stress of daily life and find an inner calm that most people are never able to achieve. While many people may read this and roll their eyes at it, I can’t help but wonder if there is some truth behind it. I know when I swim I tend to be much calmer than when I am not in the water. But, at the same time I am not working or dealing with stressful situations when I’m swimming. Regardless, some people will find the product useful. The writing was well done and shows the key points of the both Shane’s story and the product, although I still won’t be buying one.

A Potential Cure Well Worth Investigating
The author, Shane Stott, takes a conversational, yet very transparent approach, in telling us how he fell apart, both mentally and physically, in The Float Tank Cure. More importantly, he tells us how he managed to get his life back, climbing out of an abyss of anxiety, panic and depression. At some point in our adult lives, most of us experience some form of anxiety, panic and depression and some of us cope by going to our nearest watering hole, while others turn to drugs and yet others pretend there’s nothing wrong, ignoring all the signs until eventually, finally their bodies give out completely. For most, this happens around middle age but as Shane Stott quickly found out, it can happen when you’re much younger and seemingly in the prime of your life. As the author discussed floating in the float tank, I couldn’t help but recall the times when I’ve floated on my back in our swimming pool and I was the only one in the water. There’s a pervasive stillness around you; your body is weightless and a sense of peace envelopes you as you close your eyes and your mind to everything around you. The author is not saying that a float tank is the be all and end all cure but what he is saying is that it’s a combination of meditation, floatation and an open mind that will soothe the anxiety, panic and the depression. For those crippled by mental issues, The Float Tank Cure could potentially be just that – a cure well worth investigating.

A must read for those who are unsure of float therapy!
From the very beginning, it is obvious that Shane is writing from the heart. His experiences grant him the validity behind his words and one gets the feeling that he wrote this book for more than financial reasons. He does include a few references to his home float tank business, but it does not detract at all from the message he honestly puts forth. This is a very well written, easy to read book that is perfect for those that are unclear as to just what float therapy is, and what it may or may not do for them. I hope this book gets into as many hands and his message into as many minds as possible!Happy floating !

Very informative
I bought Shane’s book Before I purchased a tank from his company. I was motivated by his story as his struggles resemble mine. I liked his love of floating and not selling his product first. That’s a true ambassador. Looking forward to making floating part of my self care and my partners as well.
