Preferred bass strings.
I’ve used Roto Sound for many years. Roto Sound bass strings are brighter initially over Ernie Ball strings but find Ernie Ball strings brightness lasts longer. And, Ernie Ball bass strings cost less!

Great for the casual bassist
I'm a guitarist who plays bass on their own records. I don't often play bass and find that Ernie Ball stays pretty fresh for a good number of months when not playing often. If you're playing daily or a few times a week then you'll probably end up with dull strings in a little under a month. The tone is good but I also don't put too much stock in string brands for tone as most of it is coming from the player and I don't obsess over that part on bass. The break-in period isn't long. You can break these in within 24 hours if you restring, play for an hour, then let them sit.I'm used to Ernie Ball from years of playing guitar and they're always reliable and never had a complaint about the strings. They're great everyday strings and I wouldn't criticize anyone for using them. I don't use them on guitar anymore but wouldn't have a problem with using them again if I had to.

Best Roundwound Bass Strings
I had stock flatwound bass strings before. But when I installed these, I had the best experience of my life. It is easy to handle and it has the right amount of thickness. The metal used feels and looks high quality. I had it for a short amount time but it still looks brand new so it's great in terms of durability. The 130 string length I had to cut to properly adjust to my bass size but it fitted my bass pretty well. This is the best functioning strings I've ever bought.

good purchase
Bought these for our Grandson who recently started playing bass. Put the strings on a very old Jackson bass I've had in the closet for years. The strings sounded good and felt good. The only issue I had was the E string sounded a little dull, not as bright as the other strings. Other than that i feel it was a good purchase. Not a bad price either. I even got an extra set for my own bass. I'll buy again.

4 Strings and the brown note
I've been using Ernie Ball most of my musical years. I have occasionally strayed and tried to give other brands a chance but always came back to the EB. The Beefy Slinky has been something I needed for a long time and Ernie Ball finally came through. Piecing sets together was typically more expensive or I had to buy the 5 string Regular sets and toss the 45. Wouldn't mind trying a Hybrid Beefy set, 65-85-105-130 wink wink EB. I like the overall tones, and get my desired sound be it using fingers or a pick.I use 4 string basses and mostly a Drop B tuning, sometimes tuning the low string to C # for some songs.

Arrives as is.
Strings arrived as is with a shipping label stuck to it. As such, the packaging was in real rough shape with a small tear. Strings lasted a couple hours before going dead. I'm not sure if that's due to the tear in the packaging exposing the strings to excess humidity, or just EB being EB. Been a long time since I used these and thought to try em again for old times sake... Sure as heck will be the last time I'll tangle with EB after this experience.
