We recommend using products for color treated hair.

Q: How many minutes do you leave it in?

I leave it in for 45 minutes. Be sure to keep the conditioner that comes with it in your hair for at least 2 minutes (I go 3). It seems to keep the color from fading.

It depends on how black your hair actually is..it may show.
