Carry a spare
As I expected I had to custom fit it as I was replacing a mechanical pump on a 58 Bonneville. I mounted it under the battery tray about even height with the gas tank. It pumps with plenty of power and I added pressure regulator. Nice and quiet too. Well it only lasted a few months and I had to replace with the back-up pump That I bought just in case. That's working so far but I do not trust it. I'm going back to a mechanical I just found on E-Bay.

Fit Volvo Penta 5.7 2001
It’s working fine in my engine “Volvo Penta 5.7” with no issue.I never felt the engine being thirsty for more fuel since I have it installed.Quality seem alright but I can make comment in this further in and after one year

worthless.
this part is garbage. after installing this fuel pump in my car (69 firebird 400 which previously had the holley red fuel pump) it could not make more than 3 psi. Checked everything: voltage, clogged filters/lines, air in the system, even bench tested the fuel pump with 2 jerry cans and a battery charger to check fuel flow...no luck. Every part of the fuel system is new and in working order...All i can figure is that either the part numbers were wrong and i somehow got the 4-6 psi or marine pump by mistake, or that this fuel pump MUST be gravity fed, which means it needs to be mounted well below the fuel tank...not always possible on certain cars. A key design feature of this fuel pump is that the fuel inlet/outlet are at the top of the pump instead of at the bottom like most other fuel pumps. Do not buy unless you have a fuel cell or modified siphon-fed gas tank and you plan on spending time making custom a bracket. Also, the hardware kit does not include neccessary hardware to mount the pump to the supplied bracket, so plan on a trip to the hardware store.

Whisper quiet!
This pump is very quiet compared to the Holley pump I had on before. My application is a 1969 Ford Mustang, strong street 347 stroker engine with carburetor and OEM gas tank. I decided to go with an electric pump to try to overcome a vapor lock issue I was having, especially with the high temperatures here in Florida. I chose a Holley Sniper low pressure pump and found it was excessively loud and annoying even after I used isolation materials. I read that the Carter pump was known for being relatively quiet. I had made a mounting bracket for the Holley that I easily modified it for this Carter pump. It easily plumbed into fuel line although I had to cut out a small section of the metal line with a tubing cutter. Wiring was not a problem but, the hoods that are included for the electrical terminals were a little difficult to install with the clips and retainer provided, but I warmed them up with a heat gun to help seat them on the boss. So far I love it, if I see problems as others have reported, I will update my review, otherwise I highly recommend this electric fuel pump if you need to go that route.

Made in China not the U.S.A and likely will need a pressure regulator
I have used this pump in the past when it was a U.S.A made product and ran it for over a decade with no issues. Its output is in the 6-8 PSI range and will likely need a pressure regulator. The Holley 4776 4bbl carb I have could not reliably hand this pressure on a street driven 1965 Mustang 289. 3-4 psi seems to work well for street use. Be careful when choosing a regulator. Make sure the regulator can handle an input pressure of 8-9 PSI to insure proper operation of the regulator and avoid damage to the regulator. Time will tell if this Carter pumps lasts as long as the last one I had.

Good pump
Bought 3 of these pumps and very happy with the dependability . Works like you would expect it too.

Quiet pump, complete kit
The pump came with everything you need to get started - pump, mounting kit including rubber isolators to reduce noise, fittings, clamps, wiring ends. I’ve wired mine to a Painless fuel pump relay kit and a Carter oil pressure switch for safety, which made for an easy install. I added in a momentary switch in line to the pump to assist with hot starts, a problem I was having with my truck. The pump itself isn’t terribly loud especially for an externally mounted pump. With it on and engine off, you’ll hear it, but it’s not incredibly noisy by any means. Once my 460 is running, there’s no chance you can hear it unless you get close enough to it.

Works as advertised
Hooked inline from the tank on an '87 Tiffin Allegro RV with 454. Works great and very quiet. Just a slight hum. Old pump caused engine to starve and run lean. This fixed the problem..when the qudrajet kicks down this pumps plenty to keep the bowl full.Pumps alot of fuel. Also used it to empty tank before installing. Fills a 5 gallon can in about 2 minutes.
