Treal Aluminum 7075 Diff Housing Center Gearbox Housing for Redcat Gen8 RER11405 (Silver)

First off, I dont think these axles are bad, but they need improvements and shims included. The bearing cups for the ring gear bearings are not machined to fit the bearings properly. This area should tightly fit the curvature of the bearing, but instead this area was machined in boxed design. That does not capture and hold the bearings securely.Also, do NOT expect to just install your old stuff from the original axles and place them into the aluminum axles and it will be the same. The gear meshes will more than likely be excessive. With excessive gear mesh, you will prematurely wear out the metal gears very quickly. Shims will be required for proper gear mesh alignment. This differential takes theee different shim sizes to properly set the gear mesh.It's still a strong axle, but make sure you have the know how to set the gears properly. These are not install old parts and just go type axles. Take some time and set them properly. I have four of these axles bought at different times. They all required shims.

I ordered this axle housing to replace my stock due to stripping out a diff cover screw, and to add strength to the link mounts. I also ordered the Treal Overdrive gear set at the same time. Unfortunately, the overdrive pinion needed to be shimmed to not rub on the back of the housing and get the correct gear mesh. I installed the overdrive gears in the original axle housings and did not need any shimming and there was no rubbing or bad gear mesh. It seems the rear of the housing needs to be a little shallower (about 1mm) and not have angled/tapered sides to avoid the back of the pinion gear from rubbing. The original axle housing bearings fit and hold very snug with no chance of them backing out without catastrophic failure or intentional action to push them out. The axle looks great as well.

So I purchased on August 1 2021, and got the V3 version. It did NOT require shims as the V2 did, and the stock gear/bearings fit in perfect. Everything lined up, I paired it with Treal Caster Mounts which also fit perfect. NOTE: I used a "No-Name" rear portal housing, and it was VERY snug on the axle, I nearly needed to hammer them on. I can imagine not all "No-Name" parts will fit on this axle due to it clearly being .5-.75mm thicker than the plastic ones.

This is a very high quality replacement for the plastic axle. Everything fit like it should from the old one without any problems. I only wish they would have upgraded from 2mm bolts to 3mm where the rest of your axle parts bolt on to these but its not there fault they just made a aluminum version of the original design.

The one piece housing is the best! Treal has a winner with this one! Do not buy the 3 piece aluminum differential housing from the other guy, a waste of money!
