I hate writing reviews - I've got 3 kids and poopie ...
I hate writing reviews - I've got 3 kids and poopie diapers and homework and dinner to make - but this umbrella deserves a comment. I go to the beach twice a week in the summer with my kids and we have used the sportbrella beach umbrella for the past 4 years, but its getting too small for all 4 of us and whenever I'm in the water I'm also stressed that my umbrella will be blowing across the beach and hitting people - NOT FUN!! So I spent January and February of my free time (which isn't much, but I devoted myself to this) researching my next umbrella purchase. I didn't know what to expect, buying online means you have to rely a lot on measurements, descriptions, etc. and hope they are accurate. I will say the videos on the lightspeed website convinced me to make the purchase and now that I have my hands on it I can say IT IS THE BEST!!! I opened it, took it out of the carrying bag (no bigger than my sportbrella bag - and much lighter too) read the instructions attached to the bag to set it up while I tried to simultaneously set it up for the first time - and magic happened...30 seconds and I had it up and ready for a beach blanket and cooler. I love that I can put stuff on the floor and worry less about it blowing away - the space is amazing - I can't stand up straight under it, but I can walk around comfortably - this is the biggest beach shelter I've seen...and it took me 30 SECONDS to setup the FIRST TIME!!!! If you like shade at the beach, have kids or want to put a couple chairs under it - this is what you want....I bought a sportbrella for $40 5 years ago - I bought this one on sale for $60 - OUTSTANDING value for price!!!!

Great for the beach
I bought this for beach shade and it works very well. This is my second one and I will get to the demise of the first later. The design is really good, it has a large attached tarp as the floor and throws enough shade to two adults and at least one child. The detachable side panel also helps create extra shade when the sun is to the side. It goes up and down very quickly. It comes with 9 good-side plastic spikes. The 4 corner spikes are usually good enough to keep it in place during decent winds (1 stake is for the back, but it is not too necessary). When the winds pick up, you can us the guy-wires to tie down to up to 4 more stakes, but I have rarely needed more than one for the corner with the most wind. Sometimes when I have not used a guy-wire, the wind was strong enough to collapse a corner, but the elbow design allows that to happen without harm to the tent or allowing it to blow away. The new design has loops for the stakes on the sides of the tarp, but I have not felt the need to use those yet.The mesh pockets in the tent are usefult to store suntan lotion, knick-knacks and the storage sleve. Just don't forget to empty them out before rolling up as I have left the packing sleeve in there more than once.Self-improvements you might want to try. I usually end up putting this away by myself, which is not too hard. If the wind is blowing, leave one stake in the windy corner. This will keep it from blowing away from you. I found it useful to have a short bunge cord to hold the legs to the center shaft as I fold it up one leg at time. I also recomment getting some velcro ties for wrapping up the guy-wire cords. It offer good shade, but at high-noon in July we will put a towel on top to greatly reduce the sun coming through. I wish the company would sell a reflective attachment for the top. I am tempted in rigging my own with some from an old broken sun umbrella. The first tent tought me a lesson: becareful with the elbows as you unfold the tent. They can grab a piece of fabric and as the fold out to full position they can tear the fabic. This happened several times, but I was able to keep using it. Now I check carefully before unfolding. Also, if you hear a tearing sound, stop! After 3 or so years us use (4-5 weeks a year), the brass grommets rusted and then could not hold the top of the tent to the legs. I could work around it a bit by using the spikes, but it got to be a pain. Keep them clean. Maybe put some vasoline on them to prevent rust when putting away for the season (use a platic bag and rubber band to keep the fabiric free of vasoline.**I also bought the 2-person little "sport shade" tent from Costco. It is really too small for two adults, but could be find for a couple kids. Also its airflow is not as good as this one.

Best thing I've purchased for the beach!!
This is as easy as it appears online. I can set this tent up in about a minute. Very light and I can do this alone without assistance which is a definite bonus since I often go to the beach with my kids by myself. Take down is just as easy as setting it up. I'm glad this came with the extra side wall. It really comes in handy with the Florida sun!! I highly recommend this tent to anyone who wants a simple tent that is easy to set up.

Stays Put!
After researching this product and looking at it for over a year (it was sold out last summer)....I finally purchased it. The price does fluctuate a bit...I've seen it as low as $89 in the winter months on Walmart. But....I paid $114.I took the tent with us on a beach trip this summer. It is extremely easy to set up. I watched the youtube video and practiced at home. The day we got to the beach, it was very windy. The tent popped right up and I used the yellow anchors that came with the tent. I anchored all the floor hooks and the 4 anchor strings attached. Also filled the sand pockets. The back of the tent goes up a bit, so we put the ice chest there. I left the tent sitting on the beach for an entire week and it never moved! All the other tents/umbrellas/covers were flying down the beach....this tent was the only one left standing in very windy conditions. It was pretty easy to take down as well.I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because....it is pretty hot inside the tent. Also, we really didn't sit in the tent....more used it for storage and I set up a beach umbrella on the side of the tent for us to set up our chairs and sit out on the beach. I didn't care for the floor...but I think this is what helps the tent stay down. It brought home a ton of sand and had to blow it off with an electric blower and then hose it down once we got home. We did not use the side wall because it caused the tent to kind of buckle down...it really needs to be open so air can flow through.

Poor stitching makes tent unusable
Wouldn't recommend. The corner fabric ripped where it connects to the floor. As a result, the tent is no longer usable. For the price of the product, I would expect the stitching to hold up much better. Great concept, not well executed.

Good purchase, would buy again
Very lightweight to carry, super easy to set up, and once tethered down with guy lines was very stable even in strong winds. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again.
