I suppose at some point in the none too distant past, some intellectually challenged bonehead jammed a cotton swab deep into his ear and punctured his eardrum. Due to this misguided individual's forays into amateur surgery, the rest of us were thus condemned to having to use the only kind of swabs now available in drug stores - those with a stick so flexible as to be virtually useless.One can only wonder if at some point, a similarly useless moron will forcibly choke himself to death on a toothbrush, thus initiating a chain of events that will leave the rest of us attempting to fend off plaque with a toothbrush with all of the rigidity of an overcooked spaghetti noodle.But I digress; the point is that we can now rejoice. Once again we can purchase swabs with a stiffness suitable for cleaning one's ears. What a joy it is to be able to do so without the wet noodle hindrance of the store-bought variety of swabs.While some have stated that the sticks on these swabs are too easily broken, I have only had a few break on me out of the dozens I have used so far. Well, that's fine - a broken stick here or there is worth it in exchange for the 95% of the sticks that DON'T break.

These are some of the cheapest cotton swabs that I've ever seen. I have broken a lot of them even with a very light touch. Once they break, you are left with two sharp sticks and that is never a good thing. Suggest you look elsewhere for safe cotton swabs.

The wooden sticks are much more rigid than the paper sticks. There are some reports of the failures of the wooden sticks, yes some do. I still prefer these.

I love these things. The wood is just so much nicer than the paper kind.

The only way to go. If these break on you, you should consider a cotton tipped 2 x 4.
