Ignore any of these reviews less than 4 stars. The only way you will not have 100% success with these is if you are a novice, don’t property sanitize, or have bad spores. Try several if you don’t believe me but I have no reason to tell anyone different I am not promoting. Just trying to steer some myco enthusiasts in the right direction if they don’t want to make their own bags. These and outgrow are the only reliable brands on here and outgrows not vacuum sealed so you never know wether the moisture content is going to be right. These are the same every-time. If you live somewhere really cold or really hot they may possibly need to be kept in a dark room temperature area before use if they appear to wet to allow the moisture to absorb into the rye so just because they look wet does not mean there’s anything wrong with them. They travel through so many temperature changes(think about it) hope this helps your choice. Yes they are pricey but out of my last order 16 out 16 were a success and I have only been growing gourmet for about a year now.

I accounted for expected contamination because how sterile can mail order grain bags really be. All 4 colonized perfectly from a spore syringe. The first signs of mycelium showed after 7 days and all four had signs of myc within 10 days of injection. If anything they came slightly dry but if you have to choose between slightly too dry and slightly too wet, take dry every time.Does what its advertised to, very satisfied

these are 2 1.5 lb spawn bags 3grain. No deception but you can get 2-2.25 pound 5grain spawn bags for 5 dollars less from midwest organics. Just saying.

I have ordered these 4 times. Super fast colonization with just the right amount of moisture. I did receive one bag with a tear but they had a replacement on the way in less than 24 hours. Wish they made bigger bags.

I think most people who are leaving negative reviews aren't following the directions EXACTLY. You must follow them to a T and you must try and reduce any potential contamination to your best ability (i.e spraying the bag, scissors, syringe, tape roll, hands, surface down with at least 70% isopropyl AND ensuring to cover the injection port IMMEDIATELY after use.I do not think any of these negative reviews are realistically caused by the seller, but are rather caused by inexperienced mushroom growers, or just those who are bad at following directions.BOTH of the bags purchased for ~$40 had shown mycelium growth very fast (for pink oyster), and somewhat slow for some other totally legal strains i am growing as well.

This product is great for users that do not have the ability to sterilize substrates. I disliked the foam pad injection ports. Other products and DIY use high-temp RTV for selfhealing ports. When I inoculated the first bag the syring needle became clogged with melted foam. Lost about .5 cc of cultures having to use pressure to clear the needle. The other bag we waited a lot longer to inject. Be mindful not to clog your strings needle.

I had one bag grow mold even though I was using sterile technique. This is my first time propagating mushrooms from spores. I do have a background in microbiology and do understand sterile techniques quite well. The second bag however is producing mycelium beautifully! I am not sure if I would buy again I am leaning towards glass instead of bags.

Grain is perfectly hydrated and fully sterilized !! Did a break and shake after only 5 day post inoculation and was fully colonized in another 6 days !! Just ordered another 2 bags to get another couple shoeboxes going!! Making my own grain spawn is such a pain in the a## and is more cost effective to just get it from a reputable vendor such as this one !! Mush Luv, Mikey M.
