Small but incredibly effective (use with intention)
I am beyond obsessed with this foam roller. I’ve tried just about every roller out there, and once I got the RAD Helix, I honestly never looked back. It’s compact, high-density, and incredibly effective. Despite being smaller and travel-friendly, this roller packs a serious punch. I even travel with it because it works so well and doesn’t take up much space. It’s great for targeted muscle work and really getting into tight areas. Personal thought: This roller can feel very strong — even painful — if you’re not using it correctly or if you’re extremely tight. That’s not a flaw, but something to be aware of. When used with intention and control, it’s powerful in the best way and delivers real relief. If you want a foam roller that’s small, durable, and actually effective, this one is worth it.

great tool for my SI
not for everyone, this is a pretty aggressive tool but it was perfect for ironing out my unhappy SI

Offers more direct pressure over standard foam roller - great for upper back & shoulder blades
I am glad that I followed my chiropractor's advice and I ordered one of these for my upper back pain. Because of the gap in the center, the RAD roller offers more direct pressure along your spine without actually pressing down on your spine. Basically, it reaches your pressure points better than a foam roller. I have had upper back pain in between my shoulders for 2 years now and this is the only thing that has helped me relieve my own pain at home. It's definitely not meant for people who haven't foam rolled before. It can be very painful for some people, but for me it's the exact type of relief that I am looking for. It's great for the upper back in between your shoulder blades. It also provides relief on my lower back right above the hips. I am usually not as aggressive with it as I am with a foam roller. The RAD roller is made of hard rubber. I slowly creep over my pain spots and I even just hang out on it while I relax my neck and hands. I recommend this to everyone. I can't speak on how it works with the rod, but this one does not come with it.

Helps release fascia
Helps a lot; feels a little too hard on areas and surfaces.

solid roller but a bit larger/heavier than i thought it would be
this is a quality roller which is brilliantly designed.. personally i would characterize this as an intermediate/advanced level of roller since it does require some know-how and experience to use for your body type beyond what you read in the provided guide. i also love that it has a hole/void in its design whereby it can be fitted onto a thin pole for use as a sort of manual roller or tiger tail my only gripes about it have to do with the size and weight, which were both quite a bit higher than i anticipated and thus not incredibly ideal for travel in my carry-on luggage (measures out at ~13.25oz/0.83lb in weight and ~12.25" in length). i get that a roller this size at just shy of a full pound is not exactly super hefty, but when it comes to minimalist traveling as my partner and i tend to do, every ounce counts

Makes my back look like I got run over by a tractor
The quality seems good, I like the size of the roller as well as the contour to accommodate the spine (though this could be slightly narrower). The main complaint that I have is that the grooves (deep with sharp edges) leave significant marks on my back when I use this (wearing a shirt). It's like getting a bunch of oddly shaped hickeys on my back. I guess I'll be using it only while wearing a sweater or something. Seems like a poor design choice.

Underwhelmed and overpriced.
This roller underwhelmed me. The small diameter forces me to inch along like an inchworm when trying to roll along my side for rotator cuff release rather than allowing a nice smooth rolling motion. This involves much tightening of muscles I am trying to loosen. Not good. It is also an awkward shape for rolling the areas of my back that I need to roll. I definitely appreciate a larger diameter roller. Way overpriced for what it does, imo. One plus is the material has nice give to it and has no chemical odor at all. I really wanted to like it, but this product just did not work for me at all.

This is the only spine MFR tool I recommend to patients
Im a physical therapist and have long been a fan of RAD's duo rollers. But I don't recommend people use them (or foam rollers for that matter) on their low backs. In addition, a lot of my patients simply can't tolerate small balls or hard balls for the upper back either -- The Helix really fixes this issue with the way it avoids pressure right on the spine AND is soft enough and shaped in a way to spread out the force. It's really really key for upper back and neck and shoulder issues. I love it and can't recommend it highly enough! It's also a great replacement for a foam roller for travel, as it will fit in a carry on. I use it with the stick that RAD sells when I travel for longer than a weekend.

Excelente.

Just right to help work out lower back tension.

I balked at the price but I'm glad I bought it, a world of difference from your regular roller.
