Worth it if you need the increased security
Very nice, very beefy, very well made. It's not small, so if size is a huge issue, that might be an issue. Granted, it's not enormous (that's what she said), but neither is it tiny (in comparison with other USB drives of similar capacity). It is fairly easy to use, not that complicated, but the PIN is required before you can access the files. If you plug it into your USB port without entering the PIN, nothing happens. Your computer won't even detect that the drive is there. Once the PIN is entered, it works like any other USB drive. File transfer was fast and easy; lightning fast. The price was higher than other USB drives of similar capacity, but if the security is needed, the price really balances itself out. This thing is HACK PROOF. Unless someone has a supercomputer and a team of expert data recovery specialists, they are not getting into this thing without the PIN. The self-destruct feature may not be needed, but it's nice to know you can wipe the drive to avoid your data getting compromised. In short, if you only need a USB for routine use (school, family photos, etc), this might be overkill. If you need security, this thing is your Huckleberry! Update: add to description "will survive washer and dryer". After letting it dry out for a few days, it works fine. Not that I'd recommend doing this repeatedly or on purpose, but this thing is tough! Bloody brilliant!

Security and Convenience at a reasonable price
After researching several options for secure, encrypted, and tamperproof USB storage I ended up going with the iStorage datAshur Pro 2 secure USB flash drive. I have owned an IronKey 16GB Drive for 8 years or so and absolutely love it, BUT the cost for a 128GB IronKey Drive was nearly 5X the cost of this drive. I've read reviews on this product and had initial concerns about the keyboard, complexity of set-up, and the outer dust cover. Take the 5 minutes to read and follow the instructions and the set-up is absolutely straight-forward (dare I suggest easy). The keyboard is small, but very tactile and has distinct feedback when each button is pushed. The outer case seems fine to me, but I won't be attaching to a keyring for everyday carry. As suggested when reading the capabilities of this device, it is a very secure USB storage device, but it does not offer an online encrypted back-up should the device be lost, stolen, or destroyed. The IronKey does offer online encrypted backup, but at a very steep price differential. In fact, you could buy several of the DatAshur devices (conceivably for backups) for the cost on one IronKey. Clearly not as convenient as an encrypted online option, but for most people I think is a great solution. As a data conscious and technology-astute user, I highly recommend the datAshur PRO2 - Secure Encrypted Flash Drive

Loss data
Dear customers! Be careful with this USB drive. It worked for me for 1 week. And it's not that it broke, he destroyed all my sensitive data. The user manual says that the disk destroys the data after entering 10 times the wrong administrative password in a row. Keyword “in a row”. This is not true. There are 3 counters built into the disk: 10 times for the administrative password, 10 times for the user password and 1 time for the recovery password. That is, if, for example, during the course of a year or two years, you accidentally entered the wrong administrative password 10 times, then the disk erases all data without warning, you won’t even know that something went wrong and that the number of attempts ends. The counter runs cumulatively and is not reset without loss data. When you see this disk for the first time, start using it, learn to manage it, it is absolutely natural that you or your user can make mistakes. But this leads to fatal consequences. Technical support cannot help, they do not have a secret recovery code, even a one-time one. Even if you are registered with them on the web-site as a disk administrator. One could envision the generation of a one-time code depending on the serial number and other administrator data. I also note that button presses and firmware work are very unstable. For example, in one session, you enter the password and the disk does not open (you count 1 unsuccessful attempt by the counter) for an unknown reason, the next time you enter the same password, the disk opens correctly, but the counter of failed attempts increases by 1 and does not reset. I don’t understand why this disk is needed at all. Decide for yourself, I’m out of luck.

Very valuable when you need to take sensitive data in the field
This works great and is very easy to use. This completely eliminates the risk of taking confidential data in the field. Even if you lose it, it will "self-destruct" after whoever finds it tries to unlock it a few times.

Rugged & Quality Option for USB Flash Drive with Tons of Setup Options
This review is for iStorage datAshur PRO2 128 GB USB-A Secure Flash Drive. This is the first time that I have needed a password protected flash drive. After much research there were about three brands that came up as reliable. This was the lowest price of the three that had a cover and was dust/water resistant. I only needed to use this once and was giving it to the other person and was not planning on getting it back, so I didn't want to go crazy on the money. The case is a very strong aluminum body with aluminum cover. The cover seals up very tightly and the lanyard loop is a part of the metal body, so no chance of it breaking off. Make sure you follow the directions. The PDF manual that in the USB drive is far more extensive that the small paper manual they include. There are an insane number of security options and setups that you can do with this drive. Make sure you follow the instructions. The first step is to let it charge up in the USB before setting up. Some of the setup options are easy, but others are quite tedious. You have options for an admin account and user accounts on it. Even options for deleting the data. It has a robust set of options, but I have no idea who can memorize all of them. I just went with the basic admin account setup. I wish the device was a bit more straight forward. Perhaps the issue is I am not experienced in using secure USB drives, so I am not familiar with required security needs. The one thing I find annoying and would sometimes forget is that you have to press the arrow button for a second to turn it on, then press key button, then put in the password, and then the key button again to unlock. It seems like too many steps, but it probably has to do with the number of security options. Overall, it's been a good drive. If I were using it for personal use, I might consider one of the other ones with easier usage options, but as mentioned prior, since I am not a regular user of secure drives there might be very legitimate reasons for all the security setup options.

Flawed
It has a pretty simple flaw that renders the self-destruct PIN pretty useless, and support doesn't want to acknowledge that. Basically, there are 2 modes (user and admin), which require different ways of inputting the corresponding PIN to use them, and the self-destruct PIN can be used only instead of user PIN. So, hypothetically, if a malicious actor is forcing you to enter your PIN, they can just force you to enter your admin PIN without risking anything. User PIN can have a stricter brute-force policy (you can set as low as 1 incorrect attempt to render the drive reset) as another way of protecting you from this threat, Admin PIN doesn't have that. Apart from that flaw, it should protect you from other threats at least (the drive being lost or stolen without your abduction). It looks very sturdy, and the seal with case is strong. It has a huge guide which you'll never remember, but locking/unlocking is simple.

Excellent solution for data backup
We have been buying the datAshur PRO from iStorage for a while now, and saw that they just recently launched the datAshur PRO² version which offers more capacity and more features so this was a no-brainer! In my line of work, we carry a lot of sensitive files, so this product is a great solution for storing data without needing to worry about who will be able to view the data on the drive if ever lost or stolen. The product is flawless, it’s fast, easy to use and extremely secure. The build quality is impeccable and the design is stunning.

Safe and secure storage
I bought this because the company I work for and the company I work with both require encrypted USB drives. Software encryption isn't good enough. This has hardware encryption with an easy button design to lock and unlock it. It will make my job easier by eliminating the need to burn DVDs to move files from the source to destination. And eliminating scratched CD/DVDs.
