The best all-in-one router I've ever used, maybe the best router period
I love Ubuquiti, amazing company and great products. I love Unifi, true enterprise WiFi that's affordable enough and easy enough to manage to deploy at home.. I have a full Unifi network, 3 AP's, USG, Switch, Cloud Key... and I love it. Best networking setup I've ever owned, despite the fact that it's a bit overwhelming getting started. Normally any all-in-one consumer network router/AP is problematic. I've tried everything before, Netgear, Linksys, Cisco, Belkin, Buffalo, you name it, I've tried it. I've tried gaming routers, business routers, and everything in between. Nothing could compete with the speed and reliability of a Unifi system--until now.I found the Alien while looking for a WiFi 6 AP for Unifi. There's still not one, but I'm sure there will be soon. Maybe once there's one available, I'll put that on my Unifi setup and go back to it, but in the meantime I decided to try the Amplifi Alien. Amplifi is the consumer devision of Ubiquiti.Without getting into specific details, there's lots of reviews out there, I simply love the Alien. The speed, even of non-WiFi 6 devices is better than anything I've seen elsewhere. The WiFi 6 speed beats the other Wifi 6 routers I've tried such as Netgear. I get over 700Mbps from my iPhone 11 Pro Max. And over 620Mbps from my MacBook Pro, which doesn't have WiFi 6.Coverage from this one devices is superior to what I got with 3 separate Unifi AP's spread around the house. This a large, 2-story house with corners that were hard to reach even with the Unifi setup. Not so with the Alien. Solid signal to even the farthest corners of the house. The router is downstairs and the upstairs is covered so well, I'm thinking I may not need to run an ethernet cable anymore and might not even need to bother with a mesh point upstairs as I previously planned.Reliability is amazing. No drop-outs, no hiccups, no reboots, no need to power cycle the router to get it back online.Setup is ridiculously easy. I didn't believe the 1-minute setup, but it's accurate. The only downside versus the Unifi setup is that I can't manage everything with such intricacy, but to be honest, I'm not sure that was necessary and even introduced chances to slow things down if any of the thousands of settings were wrong. The router even has some cool features such as Teleport, which allows you to effortlessly VPN back into your home network from anywhere, which has the potential to avoid the cost of VPN services and allow you to use services like Netflix and Disney+ from anywhere globally.Bottom line is, this is without question, one of the best routers I've ever used, and I highly recommend making the jump.

Range is insane!?
Well it finally came. Darn things are sold out everywhere. I had the original little white box for my router. Amplifi. Worked great. Didn't even need this Alien. Until I went about 100 feet away to the deepest part of my backyard. Did a speed test. 140mb on the download. I'm like holy you know what. Coverage in my house was always good. Wanted better coverage outside for my Ring cameras and when I have parties. And the Alien is in a closet. Very satisfied to say the least.

Very good router for wifi 6 or wifi 5
Better than Synology rt2600ac, TP-Link AX 6000 and Asus RT-AX88U AX6000. You can set it up in a minute or less. The phone is app is incredibly easy to use. Speeds showed on fast.com or speedtest came more than any of the three routers above both for 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies. No downgrade in speeds in any corner of the 1500 sqft apartment. I have 400 plus speed internet connection and I'm getting 550 plus on wifi 6 capable phone and on wifi 5 capable phone/laptop got around 520 to 500 between in any corner on 5 GHz. It seems this is the best router for wifi 6 or wifi 5.

Best around
Very expensive but the best and widest range in a single unit. I have used Netgear Orbi (3 big units). google/Nest and returned them to Costco.I thought I would need a second for the size of my home , but I do not.

Expensive but you are buying ease of use in addition to an excellent router
While you can get a different router with the same performance (theoretically.) If you want something super easy to set up and never have to mess with it’s perfect. The remote management also makes it easy to manage it if you are helping someone else. It lacks some very advanced configurations but it has everything you need for 95% of what you want in a home router. A power user would choose something else but not for more performance.TLDR: if you want cutting edge with great performance that is incredibly easy to manage and you are willing to pay for it, this is your router.

Great router, well built, very nice!
One of the easiest setup I have done. Beautifully styled as well. From a performance perspective seems to run full speed with my 400+mbps cable speed.Couple of things I really likeBuild qualiy seem very highDisplay is very nice.Phone app on android works well and makes it easy to see the status.Super easy set up.Performance and range seem very good.Doesn't have a bunch of stupid looking antennas and yet works better then my netgear (sorry)Things I don't likeThe avalibility. I had to pay a premium to get one.No available mesh extenders that are reasonable priced (yet??).

Support is seriously lacking!
This is not the dream machine I had hoped it would be. My ISP gives me approximately 900 up & down, but I only get about 200 from the Alien unless I’m right next to the router.Phone support is no longer offered like it claims on their website and printed materials from the box. Therefore I spent 2+ hours on chat, waiting 5 minutes between each response. Because he was “helping several other customers at the same time”.My case was escalated, which was meaningless, because the communication has only changed to email.I was also told to reboot/reset/restart. Then I was advised that another router is too close and disrupting the Alien’s signal. I was then informed that I’ll be notified when the beta to fix their Wi-Fi 6 was out, which “might resolve” my issue.I tried the Orbi & was less than impressed. But their support is better then AmpliFi’s tenfold.I still have a couple weeks before I have to send it back to Amazon & haven’t decided what I’ll do. I really want to love this router, but if I have to wait for a software update that may or may not solve my issue (& don’t know when it’ll be released), I’m not sure if it’ll be worth it.My main complaint is their support. $400 is a lot of money to spend on a router. At the VERY least, they should offer phone support as advertised. Because 2+ hours of chat and now 3+ days of email is NOT making me want to keep it.
