Great value stapler which has handled a large volume of stapling
I work as a pharmacist and have to staple several hundreds prescription labels to bags. This little stapler has been one of the best things I've invested in. After using a manual stapler for many years, I could feel it taking a toll on my hand. I figured I would get this and even if it last only a few months it will still be better than having to manually staple everything. Stapler works great and it is small and compact. It came with a power adapter, however, the cable on that broke in a few months because we move the stapler back and forth, which created too much pressure on the cord. However, this little thing can be operated with 4 AA batteries, so that's how we've been running it, and that allows us to take it anywhere. The other nice thing on this is it has an auto and manual stapling feature. On auto it would staple automatically if you place paper under it, and on manual you gently touch the top and it staples for you. The auto feature broke after a few months, a spring fell out. The manual feature continues to work. You can use regular staples with it, the only time it seems to jam is when it's down to the last few staples. We've been using this stapler for over a year and a half and it's still going. Hopefully, it will keep going, but will definitely get another one if it stops working.

not satisfactory
It jammed after 3 months, and I could not free it up. I had to discard it.

Awful stapler
Swingline has always made great staplers. I have used them in offices over the years and Swingline is my preference! Never any problems; always work great! So when the pandemic caused us to work from home, I updated the supplies in our current home office, including purchasing this stapler. First off, it didn't come with staples!!!!!! I repacked the stapler, planning to return it, but I missed the window. I bought staples [Swingline Premium Optima staples--Jam Free guaranteed!]. I don't use the stapler often; a few times a week to staple 2-5 sheets. Well, the stapler has quit. I can't open it to see if a staple is jammed and it isn't working. AND I have not even replaced the first "row" of staples! And of course, I cannot even exchange it. I am very disappointed with this Swingline product and will probably switch to Bostitch. Shame on you, Swingline!

Worked fine for a couple days
I had this for a few days and it worked great. Then I reloaded the staple chamber and it would misfire. I used the recommended staples like it said, but I would staple, have to open the chamber, staple, open the chamber, staple, etc.

Great stapler, so easy to use
This type of stapler I have used in a busy tax office with several pages to staple, I have recently purchased for my officev where I am now. Have had it so far over a month and with the Optima staples I still have yet to experience a staple jam. I can even staple more than twenty pages but the back side of the staples can't obviously finish folding with more than the recommended pages. But if I have 22 pages, I am going to try to get them all in one bunch. I am looking now into the larger capacity for those thicker bunches, but for small 2-10 pages, it works like a dream saving my wrist from repeated clinching of a manual stapler. Works over and over no problems. It is also not very loud, and keeps you working quickly and efficiently. Battery usage is great too. Requires 6 AA batteries and still strong like it's plugged into power. Many times I have to take it with me to the copier and it works just as good away from power. Not to mention it is so sleek. I thought this one had the "cylon" type blink to let you know it's out of staples but I think that is the other model. I accidentally ordered this one but have been very happy with it. The only cons I have found is no blink to let me know I am out of staples and it won't take a full stick of staples. Other than that, it's a great little stapler very handy for couponing, or bills, any kind of every day paperwork, but I highly recommend purchasing the staples that are made for it. You can easily find them as a cheap add on item here on Amazon.

This model, 48208 is exactly what I wanted.
I chose Swingline Optima 20, Model 48208, jam-free, because my first one (Model 45) ran perfectly for many years. The replacement was designed to staple up to 20 sheets, Good enough for a small office. Built-in way to make sure you don't try to staple more than the 20 sheets. Nice. Heavy enough to grab my desk and not slide somewhere. It holds a full sized staple stack, no chopping to get it smaller than standard. Some say it's too noisy. Humbug, it sounds about right. Nice always on orange light to blink when I will soon need a staple stack replacement. Built-in storage drawer for more staples. Easy adjustment to choose the staple location from the page edge. Forget installing batteries, plug into 110 and let it just sit there on your desk. Even has a built-in staple remover in a back little drawer. My only gripe is that when you need staples inserted, you push a button on the back of the stapler. The stapler holder, supposed to slide forward in the front, won't move, because it's so new. Friction. Grabbed a pliers, and pulled the slider drawer forward. WD 40 on the side of the staple tray holder should fix this. Every office needs one of these wonderful things. The other similar model 48207, is cheaper, but the 48208 higher quality and features are well worth the price difference. Be careful when choosing the 48208, even Amazon sometimes has typed in 48207 in a description. Jam-free Swingline staples are worth the $5 for a whole bunch of them, nicely packaged. Throw away your old staples. Live it up. My old bang-on-it hand stapler from 1938 is now on a garage shelf.

We specifically asked if this came with an Australian AC adapter and they said "yes". It came with a USA plug. Frustrating

The size is perfect and works like a charm. Once I switched to using the staples Swingline recommended and not the standard ones all issues for were resolved. No more paper jams, zero issues. The Optima staples are not expensive and can be purchased right from Amazon. I am going to go out on a limb and say that is likely why more people had issues...they are not using the proper staples for this machine. Apparently the Optima staple tips have a difference design and are more specifically for this stapler.
