Absolutely Avocados Hardcover – April 23, 2013

I don't usually like single food cookbooks. I find most of them overwork the subject in order to fill pages. Not the case with this book. The author takes us from dips to dessert and each recipe makes good sense and offers a great platform from which to experiment. I've made six recipes so far and they have each been very good.Lots of good photos when they are helpful. This is not a "picture on every page whether it adds anything or not" cookbook. No photos of vinaigrette but a great one of Irish Nachos (a must-try recipe!)Love the avocado factoids. Love that it is hardcover. And especially LOVE that the index is actually helpful. (Lately most all the cookbooks I've purchased are computer lazy. Alphabetizing an index by first word in a recipe is worthless. I mean when I want to look up a quiche recipe, it doesn't help me when it's listed under "A" for "Aunt Reba's Country Fresh Egg Pie"...am I right?)If you love avocados, or know someone who does, I highly recommend this book.

I love this book! The presentation is amazing - I display the cookbook open on my kitchen bookshelf because the photos are so pretty. The avocado facts were a delightfully unexpected bonus, too!Now the food: delicious! The recipes are made with whole foods, which I love!!! I love it for the appetizer and healthy dinners. Great recipe ideas if you're having a sports party...like the Super Bowl...I plan on using it for the Olympic hockey games coming up. I have also tried the more interesting recipes like avocado coconut ice cream (tastes kind of like pistachio and was a great conversation starter at my summer get together)! My favorite bit of advice I grabbed from this book: add avocado to my salad dressings for a creamier texture. Thumbs way up!

I just received this cookbook yesterday and read it cover to cover. I am a huge fan of Gaby's blog and pre-ordered the book when she announced it online. I am so glad I did! I confess to being more of a blog reader than dedicated chef, but her cookbook has inspired me. I am literally headed to the grocery tonight to get the ingredients for her portobello mushrooms topped with herbed avocado and goat cheese. Yum!Gaby is humorous and writes easy to understand recipes that are full of flavor and unusual combinations. The photography in the book is also gorgeous; I only wish each recipe had a photograph! Highly recommended!

Who knew you could do so many different recipes with a simple avocado? Can't wait to try some of these wonderful recipes. Would have liked to see more photos accompanying the written text.

Really love the book using receipes that are good for me

This cookbook is amazing, it has so many recipes for things you can do with avocados, from gauc to smoothies, from pasta to apps. Most pages have pictures, the book is laid out in sections based on what type of dish it is. There's also fun pages about history of the avocado. The book itself seems really well made and durable. I also love that almost everything in the book is probably something I will try making at some point.

First and foremost I love Avocados. When I saw this cookbook I knew it was a must have. When I got the book home and started cooking with it I was blown away by how easy the recipes are to follow and cook with. The recipes are unique, great tasting, and throughly thought out. It is clear the author knows this subject inside and out and has put together a top notch cookbook unlike anything I have in my collection.This book has everything from the perfect party foods to full blown meals all featuring avocados in some way or another. If you plan to throw any party this summer, this cookbook is a must have. The bacon Guacamole is life changing- I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone.

This is a very nice, hard cover book. Huge color pictures and large print on the different varieties of avocados.Great simple recipes, can't wait to try them. A really fun and informative book <not just a cookbook.
