Kanu SurfWomen's Breeze Boardshort

I love these. I got them four years ago. I'm 5'5", with a long torso, big tummy and small butt. They're flattering to me. I bought size 8 and I was about 140-145 lbs or so (most in belly and boobs). They fit great. I lost weight and was under 130 for a summer. I could cinch them tight with the drawstring (it's mostly for looks- it just laces at the very front, but it was enough to keep them on.) Now I'm over 155... lost track. I can get them on, but there's no tying the drawstring shut! I'm ordering a size 10 today. Oh, there's no panty. My size 8 was white, and quite sheer, so I wore a white bikini underneath. I'm ordering the grey this time and maybe I'll go commando. OH! and I have that fat between my thighs (so attractive). When I take the kids to White Water (super fun water amusement park in OKC), by the end of the day my inner thighs are kinda sore and red from the seam. But I don't sit in a chaise lounge. I cliff jump, go on every slide, navigate the obstacle course, all of it! Woo hoo! This doesn't stop me from ordering this new pair, either, because I like the fit. Hmmm... but maybe I shouldn't go commando...Photo is size 8 on a 155-160lbs me- notice they don't close anymore. But the fly has a back panel so you still don't see my belly, at least.

I live at the beach, so I wear board shorts almost everyday, but these aren't board shorts - they're just baggy gym shorts like the crappy ones we had to wear in gym class in the 70's! Instead of laying flat from the waistband down, they poof out at the back, front, and sides. So, instead of being comfortably fitted the way board shorts normally are, they are sloppy looking and baggy. I wouldn't even wear these to do the gardening, let alone to go somewhere in public! I really wanted these to fit me because they are the perfect length I have been looking for and seem to be well made, but they seem made for a certain body type. I'm giving them 5 stars because the quality is great and a star shouldn't be removed because they don't fit my particular body type.For reference, I have about a 30" waist and wear about a size 8-10 in pants. I bought the size 12 because reviews said they run small. I would agree that they run small because the 12 fit me great in the legs and butt, but the waist was too loose. The drawstring is more decorative than functional, so when I attempted to cinch the waist for a better fit, it created an unattractive puckering.I feel these are best made for women who aren't overly curvy. I am not a plus size woman, but I don’t feel these are made for those of us with a larger butt or hips. They may work great for someone more boy shaped or possibly with a smaller hip and bust but a slightly larger stomach. I don't consider myself to have a small stomach at all, but perhaps it's in proportion with my hips and butt. These shorts aren't made for a particularly proportional woman. If I'd ordered true to size, the waist would have fit me but the leg openings and butt area would have been too tight.I hope this review was helpful.

Like many others, I saw the warnings to order at least a size larger, so I ordered a 14, when I'm normally a 12.For reference, I'm 5'8, 165 - 170. Right now, my belly is somewhat distended due to a recent surgery, so I was even more afraid that a 12 wouldn't fit.Oh, it didn't fit alright!As others have said, the drawstring doesn't "draw" anything... it should be called a "deco string" since that's really all it does. Even with the string pulled overly tight, I could still put these on my lower hips (I could almost pull them up completely fastened, which means that they'd likely fall down when wet!)And the hips and legs weren't any better. I'm just keeping them and rolling the top down to wear out in the yard, etc. (I threw the stuff away so no returning them)I suspect that a 14 is probably correctly sized, too (unless it's also too big) as it's larger than a 12.The fit, cut, size, etc. may even vary by color... I purchased these in purple. I love the bright color! I ordered a size up from my normal size (I’m in between sizes right now and wanted more room) as under the product listing, it stated, “True to size. Buy your normal size.” When I clicked on the size chart, it did not have the correct size chart for these shorts; instead it had this size chart: Kanu Surf Women's Swimwear Size Chart Plus-Size.I went ahead and took a gamble on them and ordered the size I wear in regular shorts. These are about two sizes too small. I could not close them or tie them (obviously). With that said, the quality appears to be very good and I am keeping them because I’m currently on a weight loss journey and I know eventually they will fit.I think the seller needs to put the correct size chart under the product listing. I do see also where others have stated that they ordered several in the same size and one pair would fit and the others were either too big or too small. There is obviously a quality control issue. I hope the seller corrects the problem.

Excellent pair of shorts and great colour.

They seem to be good quality and come in nice condition but not quite what I was looking for.

It fit great, as advertised, was the perfect length so I could sit cross legged or play sports and not have to worry about any position, but the stitching on the back was loose. Had to return it, if we had had time for a replacement would have gone with that but the other products we got from Kanu were fine for stitching and also fit well.

I got one size bigger, one size just right, but both had a weird crease across the groin and I'm a fit person. It just didn't fit my body right.

These shorts are way too small. I ordered both a size 4 and a 6. While I could get them on, they were very tight on my hips. As soon as I moved or sat down the velcro closure would pop right open. The soze 6 was just as small, if not smaller, than the size 4. The sizing is very off on these shorts. The fabric was also very rough compared to other swim shorts I have.
