I really wanted to like this product but..
I really wanted to like this product.I pierced my 4 month old baby's ears at home because of COVID-19 going around. It seemed fool proof. I saw all the youtube vids and tutorials. I got this. So we get her prepped and I mark her ears. I put the piercing gun to her ear, centering on the mark with the pre-loaded and sterile earring stem. I click the gun and the plastic holding the earring breaks away. Its supposed to do that. Then I notice that the earring back did not attach to the earring stem. I have to pop it out using the tip of a knife since its still in the gun, disinfect it and close my daughter's earring, who is obviously in pain. Huge "WTF, are you kidding me?!?!" moment. Some people will read this and say, "that's what you get for piercing such a young baby's ears," but health professionals recommend ages 4-6 months for ear piercing so they don't reach up and pull at it.Anyways, at first I thought maybe I didn't press firmly enough to lock the earring. Well, long story short, same thing happened on the other side despite me pressing firmly.I would say its better to be used on an older child or adult but honestly, no one deserves that.So I don't recommend this product because the piercing mechanism is flawed and causes unnecessary pain because it doesn't connect the earring back with the earring stem, causing the piercer to do it by hand which I'm sure hurts like a queen bee.

Perfect for at home piercing
I have three girls. They've all asked at various times in their life to get their ears done. I'm not a fan of the little pop up shops or walmart/claires piercing stations, just to many germs for me. And most of the local tattoo shop have an age limit (that my girls didn't meet). So I bought this kit when my youngest asked for her ears to be done. She sat like a champ and didn't cry! Was done and over in like 30 seconds and there was no loud noises that is usually associated with the piercing guns.

Posts are steel, backs are not. Ouch!
On the plus side, this little doohickey is stupidly easy to use. The posts are super sharp and can easily get through cartilage. On the not so great side, the breakaway plastic piece around the backing isn't great at breaking away, so I found it easier to remove the backing before piercing and pop it on after the stud was in place. Also, the studs are stainless steel, but the backings aren't, if the blisters on the backs of my earlobes are anything to by. It's not a design flaw, since I just have super sensitive ears, but in case anyone else reading this is in the same boat as me, consider yourself warned about potential skin reactions.

Works like a charm!
I ordered the one w plain round CZ studs. I received silver star studs. Otherwise--product was perfect, gun is spring loaded, the back part stuck onto the earring back, but took only a second to pull the earring back out of the gum so the gun piece came away. The earring backs went onto the earrings the way they're supposed to. No issues. This was my 1st time using a piercing gun, I used them on my 9 yr old, no tears. Took under 2 mins altogether. I didn't have to insert the earrings in the gun, they were pre sterilized and preloaded so I just used the included alcohol wipes to cleanse the ear lobes, I used a regular kids Crayola marker to mark each ear. Make sure to angle the gun properly (not just perpendicular) so that the earring is shown from head-on, otherwise you may end up with a side view of the earring when looking at the face straight on (this goes for any piercing gun). Push firmly when piercing to make sure it goes quickly all the way through the skin.

Easy and Beautiful
This is so easy. You don't touch anything. Just clean with included alcohol pad. Let dry. Mark the spot. Put ear into gun, and squeeze straight and hard, quickly (like a stapler). The back is put on and just peel the two pieces of plastic on the CZ apart (one fell off) and they'll fall off. It couldn't be easier. And the CZ is gorgeous. Looks just like my diamonds.

good value
easy to use. recommend loosening up the gun before using it, these tend to stick. not to worry, a light squeeze while the earring is loaded, just make sure to keep a finger over the front end of the earring because it's encased in a plastic shell that it meant to separate after plugging the ear lobe. also, for an easier time lining up the earring just the way u want it, id pull the back of the earring right up to the lobe leaving no air between ur ear and the gun, this way u have control over where the stem of the earring goes. i did this once without doing it that way and it lined up all wrong. anyways. good value. have fun!

Quick and easy
I would say have someone you trust give you a hand if you are new to piercing. That way you get a more accurate aim on where the ear is in relation to the gun and the earring. I did take a star off for the way the piece comes apart after the ear has been pierced; the plastic pieces from the backing come apart but tended to leave a piece behind that you had to pry off. Sensitive ears, or those getting their first piercing will not enjoy having you have to tug a bit to remove the plastic from their backing.Overall it seems like an easy way to pierce your ears, but do recommend someone help you for accuracy.

My 12 y/o did it herself!
I wanted to let my 12 year old get her cartilage pierced as a congrats “you’re going to in middle school” gift. She worked really hard this past school year and deserved a silly earring- im not uptight about these things as I sport 2 sleeves of tattoos in my role as a soccer mom. Regular jewelry stores refused, as did tattoo and body piercing shops; they said she had to be 16 even with my consent. We couldn’t find a cartilage piercing kit. I recalled having my cartilage done with a regular ear gun when I was younger and I ordered this one....I wasn’t home when the package arrived, but the messages she sent say it all. My 12 year old did it herself completely unassisted and she’s so happy. Also, she said with the use of ice, it didn’t hurt as much as she expected and she has since had me help her in doing the other ear. This was a wonderful solution for us and saved a lot of money too!
