Review: Makes a great gift for a variety of ages! - This book, to this day (a year and a half after purchasing), remains one of the only coloring books I've found worth keeping, even after moving to a different state, due to the valuable information it contains! The maps, flags, details of the physical landscape of the continents, and informative text continue to keep it engaging. Also, the included guides help readers know where to color and where to avoid. This was purchased for a World Regional Geography class at the college level and did not disappoint! Again, I keep it well within reach because it can serve as a great reference book. I recommend it for those middle-school, in high-school, and students pursuing higher education. It can be a great gift for anyone willing to stay curious about the world around them.

Great For Students and Adults Alike!
I used this coloring book for my son when I homeschooled him. It was a good and fun way to learn geography (even though coloring wasn't exactly his favorite thing). I'm smiling while I write this! We've long since finished with homeschooling (he is now 26!) but I ordered this copy for myself! It's been a nice way for me to refresh my memory. Coloring is a way that I distract myself from troublesome anxiety attacks. I do Zentangles and they are very calming. I just thought that I could "learn" something while relaxing. This was especially timely as I began to notice that I was stumped on some "simple" geography questions on Jeopardy. (more smiling). There are plenty of wonderful reviews outlining the details of this marvelous tool for learning geography, for students, but I thought I would simply add that adults wanting a refresher course might also enjoy using it. Of course, it is geared toward those who enjoy coloring of any kind (goes without saying, I suppose). Colored pencils, I find, are the best medium to use in this application.

Love This Style
I've completed two of these books entirely (the first one I found at a thrift shop, unused). The style appeals to my ADHD brain, and the layout includes overviews of rivers, mountains and other geographical features. At the beginning of each section are paragraphs summarizing the population, statistics and a brief historical overview of each country in the region. I have actually retained a lot of what I learned while simply coloring the names and outlines of countries. Most markers will bleed through the pages easily, and I prefer to use this type of coloring medium. My only suggestions would be that the publisher should use a heavier paper, and that the information within the book needs to be updated. The last edit was in 2000, so the changes to the world should be reflected. Regardless, I will probably pick up another copy soon!

Lacking Quality
I've gotten these "coloring books" for other classes through the years. I'm not surprised that information in here is now outdated, India has had a larger population the China for over 2 years now. ....... this book was printed some years before that. But this book has thinner pages than others I own, I've got an anatomy book with the same style cover, I assumed was the same publisher. Now, I think it is just mimicking an older set that was well done. Pages are thin, you can see the images on the other side. The back cover was badly bent - there was nothing to protect the book being transported. While I do understand the "bubble" words ... you are stuck with ink pens and pencils that do not bleed and it is not easy to color. But, I need a book for my daughter to use and write on maps for her online Geography course for school. This seemed like the best one. But I am not much happy with what I received.

Has become a favorite activity!
I don't usually write reviews, but this coloring book is amazing. I'm just a 45 year old woman who loves geography and is attempting to memorize all the countries and their capitals. I love this book. Had it for a year and I'm still going at it! So much fun. Great gift for a geography student, geek, of self-learner. Incredibly detailed and packed with information.

Maps: Conceptual and Current
You often want a current map that you can easily reproduce, draw upon, color, scan or modify. The news talks about unfamiliar countries every day and you vaguely recall where this or that is. This Atlas is similar to the biology coloring books and is extremely handy for use in the office, schools or refrigerator. Geographers like maps. Where people may communicate verbally or in text, geographers often feel more comfortable once an area has been identified graphically. From a printed map we can internalize the information and carry a mental map with us, and always be able to come back to the printed map. "Just show me the map and I will know what you are talking about" is a common phrase and is exactly why television news media make use of GoogleEarth photomaps every day. We are visually creatures who just want a simple representation of what we are referring to. This is a valuable resource for K-18 schools, business, churches and reference. I use mine almost every week.
