Entertaining Sequel
Although the books in this series can be read without reading the previous ones, it is much better if you start with the first book and read them in order. There is a continuing story line with the main characters, but each murder mystery is wrapped up by the end of each novel. Janessa Jones is just a bit too feisty at times, but is an engaging character. She is a nosy reporter who gets into trouble too often as she chases front-page stories for her newspaper.

Love this series
This is the second book in the series. Jenessa Jones is amazing reporter but she almost got herself killed. Luckily Detective Baxter the new man in her life and her ex found and rescued her. I still can’t believe that she is having a fondness for her ex Logan Alexander. Hopefully in the third book she will finally dismiss him from her life and they can be friends.

Not stand-alones
Not stand-alones. This series leaves questions that might be solved in the next, or several books down the road.Believable characters and dialogue. Easy to follow."Sure, awfulize wasn’t really a word, but it seemed an apt way to describe the way someone’s mind could make something more awful than it actually was."I doubt I will re-read this book. I may be interested in reading the series if it is bundled in one ebook.Remember this is my personal opinion and does not reflect on the author. I read and enjoy her work.

I lost almost a full night's sleep- couldn't put the book down!
After reading the first book in the series, I wasted no time in purchasing the second. I felt like Jenessa, the main character of story, was my best friend. I didn't want to leave her in the midst of all that was going on in both her personal and professional life...so for the last 2/3 of the book, I didn't. I usually go to bed rather early, but this time I stayed up until 4:00am to finish the story and I have no regrets. Burroughs keep me guessing throughout the story and she had some twists in the story. I can't wait for #3! I am thrilled to have found a new author to add to my list of favorites! Burroughs will draw you in quickly and take you away from all those things (like sleep) that you should be doing.

Suspicious Murder
Jennessee Jones is still writing for the town paper in this second book in the series. There is a murder that the police and her are trying to solve when she is kidnapped. Detective Michael Baxter has a crush on Jennessee but when his ex-wife shows up everything's goes bad for the two in their relationship. How they solved the murder was something I never would have figured out. Another good whodunit. Ready to start the third book.

Loved it!
After stumbling on the 1sr book, I eagerly read the 2nd book. I love this series. Her writing style is fantastic. It keeps you guessing who the murderer is. I had trouble putting the book down! I can't wait to order the next one.

Pure powerful . All scenarios seem to be something that could happen in someone's real life. Anyone would enjoy this story

Mystery is good; romance awkward and frustrating for this reader
Another good mystery but I am growing weary of the main character’s fluctuation between boyfriend (?) Michael (a really good guy) and Logan (old boyfriend who failed her when she got pregnant). And now Michael’s x-wife is in the fray? Please stop this frustration. It paints characters as weak and indecisive - flaws I don’t care to see.

Good story with lots of twists and turns
This is the 2nd book in the Jenessa Jones series and it's as good as the 1st one.Jenessa's relationship with Detective Michael Baxter is going well and she's getting on well with his small Son, Jake. Her job at the local newspaper is also going great, all in all she's enjoying being back in Hidden Valley. One of Aunt Renees friends, Professor Stone is shot at abd Jenessa reports on it for the paper, a week or so later the Professior is found dead at her desk, and the prime suspect appears to be Aunt Renee.Jenessa is none too pleased to find the police searching her Aunt's house, and things go from bad to worse when she finds that Michael's ex wife has shown up and is living at his house.Jenessa cannot keep away from a story and she works with the police to get her story and solve the murder, so she can clear her Aunt's name. The characters are well written and the story flows really well, a good mystery with lots of twists and turns. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Two girls, two men - stirred not shaken.
I've enjoyed a couple of really good authors on Kindle just recently - unfortunately Debra Burroughs wasn't one of them. The 'Stone House Secret' is much more a magazine-type rectangle romance than a detective story. Pretty heroine is dating a handsome detective who's beautiful ex-wife comes to stay and attracts the heroine's rich and gorgeous past lover - intrigue - intrigue - etc. etc. And so much goes on in the coffee shop! I found it condescending that the author' style assumed she couldn't hold her reader's attention for more than a few paragraphs: as an example, 4 paragraphs after her boyfriend is told "As long as she stays quiet as a church mouse" in her presence, we are told that the heroine said "Hello" but kept her response short for she had been warned she could come if she remained silent. I kept putting my Kindle down in frustration, but persevered because I wanted to know the end, so 3 stars.

Nice easy read
Enjoyed this mystery very much. It was a nice easy read, not too heavy, but very enjoyable. The basis of the story follows on from the first book but it is a different mystery to solve. Would recommend for anybody who likes a lighter, rather than gritty, mystery.
