Boundary-pushing cinematic visionary Lars von Trier (Antichrist) returns with one of his most daring, masterfully provocative works yet. In five audacious episodes, failed architect and arch-sociopath Jack (Matt Dillon) recounts the elaborately orchestrated murders—each, as he views them, as a towering work of art—that define his "career" as a serial killer. Mixing pitch-black humor, transcendent surrealism, and renegade musings on everything from history to architecture to cinema itself, von Trier fashions a radical, blazingly personal inquiry into violence, art, and the twin acts of creation and destruction. Uma Thurman, Riley Keough, and Bruno Ganz co-star. Bonus Content Review: favorite movie - love this movie and always have to stream, was worth it Review: Great Movie - Great Movie

Not a horror film, but Trier's possible magnum opus.
I highly recommend seeing some von Trier's other films before you watch this (Dancer in the Dark, Melancholia, Antichrist, Nymphomaniac) as this film is sort of a representation of his career in a way. He is telling his story through the serial killer Jack where Jack is a vile person lacking empathy, possessing a strong narcissism, and suffering from OCD that also believes he is an artist. His murders (Trier's films) are great works of art to him. I don't want to give too much away but this is very much like American Psycho. It's a case study of a serial killer but moreso a case study of a director. There are only a couple scenes of explicit gore and it is loaded with narration and exposition sort of like watching an actual video essay as Jack tells his tale. There is also a surreal aspect to this film which I won't give away but overall I found the whole thing very enjoyable. One of von Trier's best. This is not a horror film, if you enjoyed Antichrist or American Psycho or maybe even Birdman then you may enjoy this.

No slipcover, but I know, at NO point it was mentioned.
Haven't watch the movie yet, but as service, price, and delivery, so far is OUTSTANDING, the only thing I got disappointed at, is that by the 2 pictures displaying the movie , they show it comes with the Slipcover, I am very picky about that, it didn't come with it, but I'll eventually buy it again , I know, that's me, .Now, to enjoy the movie !.....Surprised it didn't come with it being brand new and sealed .

Great movie for horror fans, case is so flimsy.
I want to warn people that this movie is not for the faint of heart. There are some pretty awful scenes in this movie. However, I have already seen this and wanted a copy for myself. Great quality movie. Only gripe is the case. It's so flimsy, geez. One star off because of the flimsy case, not the movie.

Must see movie
Extraordinary well done film. Matt, Ema and more are so incredible in this movie that I had to buy it. I watched it on a fluke not expecting much but a horror movie, I got so much more. Trust me you will like this movie.

A bit icky.
Please note that I *like* Lars von Trier. I own Melancholia, Nymphomaniac, Antichrist, Riget and several other von Trier films. I am not squeamish. There is a scene of animal cruelty in this film that I found both unnecessary and disturbing. The plot is scarcely there. The acting and cinematography are both adequate, and at times, strangely beautiful, but I won't be adding this film to my permanent collection. I rented Jack before the disc became available, and I'm very glad I didn't do a preorder. Watch at your own risk.
