BraunThermoScan IRT6020 Digital Ear Thermometer

This is a great thermometer. It is simple to use, quick and accurate. We have one for our 5-year-old grandson. When my son and his wife saw it, they were impressed, so we bought one for them, too. They love it. I recommend this product.

I have never been disappointed in Braun products, including this one. Surprised that it only displays temp in Celsius. Oh well, it's time I learned to use metric.

This thermometer is quick and easy to use and especially on the little ones. I have found it to be very accurate and would recommend it as an item for all households. I received one as a gift many years ago and recently purchased several to give to other family members.

This is faster than my old Braun Thermoscan that the button stopped working after 9 yearsHowever the lens filters are just slightly a different size so I had to trash the old ones.Also the old cover was full body and worked well. This one just covers the nose and falls off if you do anything but hold it on with both hands. Definitely not a travel protector or even for drawer storage. No storage for the extra lens filters so those will get lost

This model does not come with the large dock of the 6520 - but I find the small protective cap is better for packing for travel. Unlike previous reviewers I found that it does allow an easy change from Celsius to Fahrenheit. The process is described in the manual and takes about 3 seconds.

Love love love!!! I can’t work the forehead ones to save my life. This is simple. Easy to work. And comes with ear covers for future sick kids!:)

My husband has dementia so I can't use an oral thermometer on him. This is perfect. Only takes an instant to check him. I highly recommend this thermometer.

Ich bin von dem Braun ThermoScan 5 Ohrthermometer begeistert und kann es uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Es bietet eine zuverlässige Messgenauigkeit und ist dabei äußerst einfach zu handhaben.Das Thermometer ist sehr schnell einsatzbereit und kann dank der einfachen Bedienung mühelos von jedermann genutzt werden. Besonders praktisch finde ich, dass das Gerät einen akustischen Signalton abgibt, sobald die Messung abgeschlossen ist. So weiß man sofort, dass das Ergebnis vorliegt und kann die Temperatur direkt ablesen.Die Messergebnisse des Thermometers sind sehr genau und können innerhalb von nur wenigen Sekunden ermittelt werden. Auch die Ablesbarkeit der Werte ist sehr gut, da das Display groß und gut lesbar ist.Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass das Ohrthermometer ein sehr zuverlässiges und einfach zu handhabendes Gerät ist. Es ist ideal für den Einsatz im privaten Bereich oder auch in medizinischen Einrichtungen geeignet. Wer auf der Suche nach einem qualitativ hochwertigen Ohrthermometer ist, sollte sich das Braun ThermoScan 5 auf jeden Fall genauer anschauen

I'm a chemotherapy patient, and have to keep a very close eye on my temperature every day. If it goes up or down significantly I have to go to hospital immediately - infections can be fatal. It's vital that I have a way of taking my own temperature accurately and reliably at home. The IRT6020 fits the bill nicely.I made the mistake of buying the 'little brother' of this thermometer - the  Braun IRT 3020EE Thermoscan Compact Ear Thermometer  from Amazon a month ago. I found it was giving quite low measurements, so took it with me to chemotherapy yesterday. A senior NHS nurse tested my IRT 3020 against the almost identical Braun Thermoscan thermometer that the NHS use (looks practically identical, but sits on a pod - every hospital seems to use the same one). She took my temperature five times with the NHS thermometer, and the readings only varied by 0.1 degree. She took it five times with my IRT 3020, and the readings varied by 0.6 of a degree... and varied between a 1 and 1.6 degrees LOWER than the NHS thermometer.Having read the Braun marketing schpiel for this thermometer, it would appear that it 'pre-heats' the measuring tip, to prevent the coolness of the plastic distorting the readings. First impressions would seem to indicate that what sounds like a gimmick actually works! I took delivery of this tonight, and I'm incredibly pleased and relieved to say that my first five readings only varied by 0.1 degree, and gave the same reading as I had at hospital yesterday. Tested against my IRT 3020, it's up to a degree higher. Needless to say I'll be posting a slightly more negative review for my previous thermometer!The IRT6020 is significantly larger than the 3020, but still fits comfortably in the hand. I am male, but have pretty small hands (I'll never make it as a concert pianist!). It has TWO buttons, so if you're easily confused, stop reading now. Press the power button to turn on. Wait a minute. Put it in your ear. Press the green button. Temperature read!In order to put the protective plastic lid on the 6020, you have to remove the thin plastic hygiene cap, which covers the measuring tip and keeps it (relatively) sterile. There's an 'eject' clip on the front, which flicks the 'used' hygiene cap off for disposal after use, but do you NEED to use a new cap every time? Should you buy 200 of the little fellers? Will you die if you use one twice?The answer is, quite simply put, "no". In a hospital environment, where the same thermometer is being used for potentially dozens of different people (e.g. on a ward), then YES definitely dispose of the cap and replace for the next person. I have to take my temperature twice a day; more if I feel unwell. I'd get through a pack of caps in a week. I know I don't have an infection (or I'd be in hospital!), and my ears are pretty clean. I've been using the same cap for a fortnight, and it's spotless. I suppose you could wash them or, better still, use an alcohol wipe to sterilise them, but if they're not dirty then why not keep using them?Some reviewers have claimed that Braun are trying to scam them into buying more caps. In my opinion they're promoting good hygiene practice, but ultimately leaving the decision in the consumer's hands.The bottom line - it's an excellent thermometer: easy to use, accurate, consistent, fast, and reliable. I would strongly recommend it to parents of small children, or those with serious medical conditions. PLEASE don't buy the IRT3020 - spend the extra £3 and buy this! Ein präzises Ohrthermometer ohne Schnickschnack. Einfache Bedienung, es zeigt die Temperatur an und gut. Interpretieren kann ich das selber, eine Alterseinstellung usw. brauche ich nicht, von daher super. Durch die Schutzkappen super hygienisch. Eine absolute Einschätzung der Präzision ist ohne Prüfgerät zwar schwierig aber mehrfache Messungen liefern sehr konsistente Werte, von daher bin ich sehr zufrieden.

I have changed 3 thermometers in the past year. All I did was wasting my money until a friend of mine recommended Braun Thermometer. That was the best day of my life! Seriously! I know it may look expensive but it does its job very well. You will understand me if you have kids who hates measuring their body temperature , so every minute seems like a lifetime and also LOTS AND LOTS of screaming included in the process.I was very pleased with the results. it takes only 5 seconds to measure the temperature and it's very accurate. I checked it using different thermometers. It comes with 21 disposable hygienic probe covers, it is very important if you have more than one child as it will help you to avoid cross-contamination, also ensures earwax residues do not impact accuracy of the reading. You can switch it to Celsius or Fahrenheit readings whichever is more comfortable for you. Very easy to use! It starts beeping when it's ready to show readings.it's BPA and Latex free and comes with one AA battery.One more thing, sometimes cover cap doesn't want to stay in it's place, make sure you pushed it on and it clicked. at first I thought it's broken, but it's all fine.So last few words: I am very happy with this thermometer, it saved me money, my time and nerves lol I am sure you will be very happy when you start using it.

Seit 2013 haben wir ein "Braun Thermoscan IRT 4020" und waren damit hochzufrieden. Leider war unsere Kleine kürzlich wieder krank und das Thermometer unauffindbar. Es musste also schnell etwas neues her und es wurde der Nachfolger, das "IRT6020 ".Vorweg...seinerzeit habe ich schon zum alten Gerät eine Rezension geschrieben und mir fiel auf, dass sehr viele Käufer offenbar ein Problem mit der Handhabung haben. Viele klagen darüber, dass die Temperatur nicht genau angezeigt würde, schwankt oder andere Fehler auftreten. Bei dem neuen Gerät, sind die gleichen Klagen zu vernehmen. Bei Ohrthermometern muss man einfach einige Dinge wissen.Ein Ohrthermometer misst Infrarotstrahlen (Wärmestrahlen), die vom gut durchblutete Trommelfell und dem umliegenden Gewebe abgegeben werden, ermittelt daraus die Körperkerntemperatur und zeigt das Ergebnis auf einem Display an. Die Messung findet am Trommelfell statt, weil es zu einen leicht zugänglich ist und und zum anderen von den gleichen Gefäßen mit Blut versorgt wird, wie der Hypothalamus, dem Temperaturkontrollzentrum des Körpers. Dies gewährleistet eine relativ genaue Temperaturmessung innerhalb weniger Sekunden. Minimale Schwankungen von Ohr zu Ohr sind normal. Rektal oder Oral ist es auch nicht genauer. Es fällt nur nicht auf, weil man nur einen Messpunkt und damit keinen Vergleich hat.Die Handhabung ist deutlich kniffliger, als bei anderen Messmethoden. Die Spitze des Ohrthermometers muss auf das Trommelfell gerichtet sein. Zielt man daneben, bekommt man völlig abstruse Werte oder gleich eine Fehlermeldung. Ich habe damals so lange an mir selbst geübt, bis ich es im Schlaf konnte und seit dem habe ich keine Probleme, egal mit welchem Gerät. Das ging auch recht flott. Nach wenigen Versuchen hatte ich es. Nicht jedes Ohr ist gleich und nicht jeder Gehörgang gerade. Auch bei meiner Tochter brauchte ich ein paar Versuche, um den richtigen Winkel zu finden.Die Vorteile liegen eigentlich auf der Hand. Man hat eine besonders schnelle Messung und gerade für Kinder ist es deutlich angenehmer, als eine orale oder gar rektale Messung.Zum Gerät selbst:Die Verarbeitung ist hochwertig, wie man es von Braun gewohnt ist. Die Handhabung ist narrensicher. Man hat einen ein/aus-Schalter und einen zweiten Knopf für die Messung. Beim Vorgängermodell war das allerding besser gelöst. Es gab einen Knopf für alles. Merkwürdig ist, dass es ohne Hygieneschutzkappe nicht funktioniert. Mit Schutzkappe kann man aber die eigentlich Kappe für das Thermometer nicht drüberstecken. Das wird ebenfalls oft bemängelt und ich stimme uneingeschränkt zu. Es riecht doch allzusehr, nach zusätzlichem Umsatz durch den Verkauf von Hygieneschutzkappen. Beim 4020 konnte man auch ohne Kappe messen, die Hülle passte auch mit Kappe und ganz ehrlich...dort war die selbe Kappe oft monatelang drauf.Pro:- gute Qualität- genaue und schnelle Messung bei richtiger HandhabungContra:- man ist fast gezwungen, ständig neue Kappen zu verwendenTipps:- Bedienungsanleitung lesen- vor dem "scharfen" Einsatz bei der ganzen Familie übenIm Vergleich mit dem IRT 4020 schneidet das Nachfolgemodell IRT 6020 deutlich schlechter ab. Abgesehen von dem Desaster mit den Kappen, ist es in der Bedienung aufwändiger und es liegt schlechter in der Hand. Gleich geblieben sind die gute Verarbeitung und die genaue Messung. Dennoch denke ich, dass man in dieser Preisklasse nichts besseres bekommt...es sei denn, man findet einen Händler, der noch das alte Modell am Lager hat.Übrigens tauchte das 4020 genau an dem Tag wieder auf, als das neue Gerät in der Post lag.Eine Bitte noch:Eine Bewertung der Rezension hilft mir, die Qualität meiner Beurteilungen zu verbessern und anderen Lesern beim Auffinden relevanter Informationen und damit auch bei ihrer Kaufentscheidung. Falls Sie aber meine Meinung nicht teilen können, freue ich mich dennoch über Kommentare dazu.
