I have been using this video almost daily for over a year now. It helped me achieve my goals and shed 15 lbs with a good diet. I have been able to keep it off and it helps keep my sugar and cholesterol in check. It also helped me get back on my mountain and road bike and competing again. Reading some of the reviews I have to agree and disagree. Yes, this is an older video and was recorded before HD and widescreens came out. So don't expect great picture quality. With any spin class the music is always cheesy. But, with this video you only have to listen along with the instructor a few times before you memorize the layout. Which means you can enjoy your own music, mute the video and watch for cues on when to get in and out of the saddle. I like the fact that the class is short and I can squeeze it in daily. If it starts getting easy then crank up the tension and you will always get a good workout. The course is 3 loops which consist of 1 to 2 minute intervals of flat road, standing flat, jumps and seated and standing climbs. Just long enough for a good cardio workout. But a good enough variety to keep your strength up if done daily. I recommend keeping this one on the shelf if you have a spin collection.

It's a decent video, not great
I'm not sure when this was filmed (early 90s maybe?). That being said, the video quality is pretty terrible. The music isn't that good. Maybe I was spoiled by the Fitness On Demand at my local gym and I expected more. Now, instead of buying spin DVDs from Amazon I'm looking for companies online that offer classes on a monthly pass or charge per video download. There is a DVD menu and it does have helpful tips for beginners though, like the proper set-up of a spin bike and how to configure it to your build to prevent injury or strain. (I still consider myself a beginner though, having about 6-7 months experience.) I feel like this video had people coming out of the saddle a lot more than other beginner videos I've tried. I think the instructor for the class is great though--not too pushy and not a push over. The image quality could be better. The instructor could try some different things; this has 3 loops and that's pretty much it. The way the DVD menu functions could be improved--I had to rewind it because I had to make a bike adjustment and the video kept rewinding into the instructions and bike set-up. (The menu functions as a bookmark instead of separate sections).

Suitable for all Fitness Levels
Just got my spin bike and three dvd's. Chose to start with this one! The set up and foundational information was most helpful! Never took a spin class before but have been into fitness for years with a home gym, treadmill, and other equipment. Thought it was time spouse and I kicked it up a notch to get beyond our plateau! Spouse said it didn't take long to break out in a sweat!!! :-D Instructor is helpful for newbies. Though it's challenging, you can modify it to your fitness level. You can feel the work out; the cool down and stretching feels wonderful. You actually feel good afterwards! I recommend this dvd.

Great Workout!
I started cycling last summer and over the winter got a little out of shape. I purchased a spin bike to start getting back in shape for this summer and this is the first spinning dvd I purchased & I have never done a spin class before. Though this workout is an "express" workout as it says on the cover it is a good workout. It gets your heart rate up and down and it will get you sweating! I would say that the first time I did this work out I did feel exhausted at the end but after doing this dvd a couple of times I can feel myself getting in better shape. I have went on to purchase more spinning dvd's!I watched this dvd once without having my earbuds in, and after that I can follow the dvd very easily, put in my earbuds and have the music as loud as I want, I don't feel like you need to listen to the dvd to feel motivated!Good, fast, cardio workout.

Be ready for a great first ride next spring
Perfect for beginners.I've been riding for 50+ years, but find this the right challenge for beginning indoor cycling.Eventually, you'll move on - but this video contains the fundamentals of turning yourself into a sweat hog in 30 minutes.Good teacher - good motivator, very clear on expectations. You will greatly benefit, if you:- are honest with your estimations of exertion,- try to follow the instructors cadence (usually along with the music)- occasionally use a mirror to check your posture and technique - sit down if you have to, but get back up ASAPIf you routinely get back on the road for real riding each spring, I think you'll be surprised how prepared you are!

I want to love it...
I really want to love this spinning DVD, and in honesty, the workout is great. BUT...the strobe lights are AWFUL! I like to work out in the morning without the overhead lights on and the flickering lights sometimes give me a headache and make me stop and put a different dvd in. I sometimes wonder if my neighbors wonder what on earth is going on at 6am in my house. I have actually watched the video and just written down what the workout is and the timing of each thing because its easier to just use a stopwatch and do it on my own than suffer the strobe light headache.

Okay to whip out a quick workout
For a quickie 30 minute spin workout, it delivered. But it had the usual annoyingly peppy, disco-lit, shots of butts in spandex direction and visuals. I would love something a little less boring and annoying. I find it really hard to do this one more than a few times, its just too annoying. Maybe next time don't show a class, just have the instruction and an image of an open road. But, as a former long distance cyclist (50-100 mile rides), I am not a huge fan of the disco biking thing. I would like something more realistic and less like an aerobics instructor on a bike.

Too costly to make a collection.
After playing it once and learning what and how I need to do to use it as an exercise machine, I got bored watching it. Now I just play my stereo system for background music while I do spinning. I would like to get the "sight-seeing type" around different locations but it's too expensive just for one viewing. One viewing is all it takes to savor or admire the scenery. There are some being sold for $4 but the shipping and handling surcharge for each DVD makes it very expensive. So, no, I will do spinning to my favorite music.

Great but use your own music
Really good workout for 30 mins, if there was one thing I would change is the music.Perhaps it is a personal dislike but I did not find the music motivating. So I just play my own in the background so i still hear the instructions but focus less on the music.

Does what it says on the tin! A 30 minute workout which definitely makes you sweat. The only problem I have with it is the music which is quite boring. What I do is turn the sound down and use my iPod as you can still see the instructions on the screen.

I like
I'm used to a 5 mile run 6 days a week...but in Canada winter can be tough to run in. I've used this video a few times and it gets my heart rate up and it's a great workout!
