Janome Artistic Dress Form, Petite

The instructions for adjusting the dressform are really lacking and vague. There is no clear direction on how to do it . The directions say " inches and centimeters are shown on the dial" and "DO NOT OVERSTRETCH SIZES!" They weren't helpful to me. There are a few little numbers on the edge of the adjusting wheels but they didn't seem to be useful in any way to the adjustment process. It seems impossible to adjust any measurement without adjusting them all - so if you have a person who is larger than average on one set of measurements, like the waist, and smaller than average, say on the bust, it's very difficult to do this if you have to adjust them all equally or they won't adjust at all. I thought the whole point of the form is to get it to match your body. And regarding the overstretch admonition - I have no clue if I overstretched the size or not - I can't tell whether I am doing so or not, it being so difficult to adjust. I finally just adjusted the best I could using a tape measure to get it where I wanted it.When this project is over I am getting rid of it. My advice, spend more money and get a better dressform and if possible examine a sample of one before you buy it. Examine the adjusting mechanism and see how it works and whether you like it. Don't get this one.

I had high hopes for this dress form. I am 30-24-32 so there aren't any other dress forms I've found that are small enough for my measurements (particularly in the bust area... A-Team ladies say, "Hey!"). ANYHOW, I saw this dress form and thought there was hope until I put the dress form together. The form I'd received appeared to have been previously used as it had black marks and the dress form mechanism on one side of the waist was broken (the button on the waist would slip behind the waist on the right side and wouldn't increase beyond a centimeter). I attempted to increase the bust, but it didn't seem to want to move much beyond a few and I sure wasn't going to force it. Just as quickly as this dress form came out of the box, the dress form went right back in. I was really hoping to have an adjustable dress form, but it's just not going to happen I guess. I'm just grateful to have a brother who is a professional artist and has a lot of experience casting molds so we can make a custom dress form the next time he's in town.

I suspect parts of my dressform are from previous returns, but I got it on sale so its fine by me. As a first time buyer of a dress form the included instructions were super vague and confusing. Otherwise it put together well and the dials adjusted without too much effort. It certainly can't be picked up and carried all over but it doesn't seem to be as "flimsy" as everyone says most dressforms are.

I like it, but it's a little hard to get it to the exact size since the size I need is at the top of the range but I figured it's easier to add extra padding to the smaller form than buy the bigger form. It is a hard plastic with a fabric cover. You can pin to it if you put the pins in sideways.

Very wobbly and doesnt adjust as high or low as specified.

I am very pleased with this dress form. I could never find one this small and it saves me so much time when I do all my sewing projects. I really do not have to have the person there to do the actual fitting...I just use the dress form. You have made my sewing so much easier . This is the best that you will find. It's easy to assemble and easy to use. I give this a 5 star.Thank youIvy Santos

I have been in need of a good dress form but being a petite woman, the regular dress forms are way too big, even dialed down to the smallest size. I bought the Artistic dress form in the petite size with high hopes that it would be close to my size and thank goodness, it is. No boobage, smallish hips and a proportional waist. Lightweight and easy to put together, didn't need any husband help. Highly recommend.

The sizing is great! My only complaint is that the product isn't as sturdy as I'd hoped. The dress form moves around a lot, which makes it hard for me to work.
