Best book for anyone who loves and works with kids.
This is a great read. I’ve read three books by Dr Sax. They are impactful reads for parents, educators, and anyone who works with and cares for children. This information is so important to understand.

MUST Read if You Have a Girl!
WoW! I haven't earmarked so many pages in a book before. Dr. Sax gives so really practical information and some great ideas to consider. If you have a daughter I would HIGHLY recommend this book. It gives some true insight into how girls are raised in our society these days. If I had a boy, I would buy his other book as well.

Sax gives a lot of good insight on things to look out for and antidotal ...
I'm a first time mom trying to raise a little girl with high self esteem and a sense of self in this crazy internet bullying, over scheduled world that has been created for children. Dr. Sax gives a lot of good insight on things to look out for and antidotal stories about kids with these problems.

Leonard Sax does it again!
A few years ago, my bookclub made an exception for me and let me lead the discussion on the non-fiction book by Sax called Why Gender Matters. They loved it. Now Girls on the Edge is out and addresses the plight of young women today and how parents and teachers can help girls to grow up healthy. It's a wonderful book and everyone who cares about a girl in their life should read it. If you don't read it, you'd never guess how messed up girls can become in today's world.

Important Reading -- Balanced and Thoughtful
Completely unanticipated his take on cutting. Quite fascinating...and he's come the closest to helping me understand it as anyone in the mental health community. I give Dr. Sax five stars as he understands how does one cope with "beauty" and their worth? He dispells the childhood abuse myth must cause cutting (THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU)Instead, he writes and provides examples of how the ubiquitous and lewd nature of media has challenged/damaged and done much to harm girls/women and their experience.Read this and "The Beauty Myth" and understand the culture of vanity and how frightening the resultant personal experience

Thank you Dr. Sax
I had the pleasure of recording an interview with Dr. Sax recently and I understood everything he said. I immediately bought all three of his books. This book like his others is full of practical information that needs to be implemented asap. Dr. Sax's books offer parents and our children hope for a better child/parent relationship.

recommended for anyone with daughters
Very well written book, recommended for anyone with daughters. The author uses a nice balance between evidence based material, research and stories to provide thoughtful and practical advice to parents of girls navigating per-adolecence and the teen years.
