Pricey, but highly versatile
This is an excellent and highly adaptable piece of tech. I originally bought it because I wanted a large high resolution tablet that would make reviewing PDFs much easier than my windows laptop. Since using it, it's replaced the laptop in every way. The only downside: it is costly. The upgraded SSD is definitely worth getting (because 128 GB is frankly too small and they are near impossible to do an after market upgrade) but the extra cost is eye watering. (About £200 more for a part that costs £40). Plus the well documented £150 type cover that is an after market add on (you could get a wireless/bluetooth if you are that way inclined). Although the cost has mounted up, I must admit that the range of add-ons does result in huge versatility. The surface book can be a tablet, laptop, e-reader, or you can set it up for standing desk work with after market purchases. That leads me to think I'll get a huge amount of use out of this for a number of years. Sometimes you just know a tech purchase is exactly the right thing, and this has been one of those purchases.

Great performance but poor battery life
i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD Very happy with the performance very snappy and boots very fast . partner happily plays sim4 at full setting cant fault performance. But the battery life is poor. In power saver mode with lite use lucky if i get 4-5 hours. Best performance 3.8 ghz around 3 hours battery life. Temps are ok 3.8 ghz idles around 40 oC 100% usage max 74-80 oC Very happy overall Just need to charge twice a day to get full day.

It's Good, But....
As an everyday computer it does the job nicely. The screen looks great, it's extremely portable, and it's very responsive for average computing needs. Especially with the new Ice Lake processor in it. However, if you're an artist/user of Photoshop it can be very slow and has performance issues. so, as an artist I wouldn't recommend this version of the machine, I'd go for the i7 or the 16GB version. That's the only reason I returned it. If you're going to use it for light productivity, social media, and watching Netflix etc on, then it's great.

Slim and very portable, packed with features
The Uk 3 pin plug for the charger has sharp and protruding pins that can scratch and damage the surface of the Surface or carrying case., and occupies a lot of space. A 2 pin EU charger and iBlock cube universal adapter is the answer, and this adapter (35W) also has 2 USB-C sockets and a USB-C to USB-C cable in addition to the universal plug socket which gives an alternative way of charging the Surface. To make full use of it (as a beginner), I needed to buy a Pro 7 user guide and 'Windows for Dummies', and still am struggling at times.

Not suitable for business use
This is my 2nd Surface Pro. Nice laptop but the front camera stopped working within a year of purchase. Microsoft troubleshooting and customer service was rubbish and didn't provide a solution so ended up having to buy a separate webcam for video calling. After almost 2 years, the laptop simply gave up and did not turn on at all. It is currently back with Amazon repair team - will update review once Amazon have had a look at it. It's an i7 / 16GB. Expected far better from a premium priced laptop. I bought it for work use (Word/Excel/emails/video calls). I will likely now go for a Thinkpad for work use - not as trendy, but far more reliable than the Surface Pro.

Fast processing and great battery life
Purchased this for travel as a replacement for both laptop and ipad. The performance is fantastic and the battery life is certainly as good as any laptop I have owned. Very happy with the purchase and is a massive improvement for travel. Would recommend.
