DAY 1 COMFORT
I got these for my dad. He’s a big guy, and I’m trying to get him to exercise. We ordered him the same size he wears for all others shoes, so the size is true fit (11.5).We went walking 2 miles this morning. He says they’re the most comfortable shoes he’s ever worn; no feet pain, no back pain.He didn’t complain once while walking. He’s got flat feet, so normally his feet hurt if we walk a lot (like around the mall for 2 hours). He recommends these shoes for big guys with flat feet starting to exercise again.Day 1 Comfort!Get them.

Best shoes I've ever had
Ahhhh how much can I praise these shoes! I found these shoes around five years back and have bought a new pair every year since. I wear them every day and run them into the ground before getting my new ones. I have always had issues with my feet and most shoes I wear need Smartfeet insoles, not these however, I can cinch them up every day and not worry about my feet being in major pain at the end of the day.The soles are high quality that last for a long time and give you plenty of grip on all surfaces. The insoles are fantastic too, give good support and stand up to everyday use no problem. The signature feature of all Salomon shoes are also there amazing laces, which aren't actually laces but an easy pull to tighten system that takes less than a second to tighten. Very quick and easy.I use them for everyday use even though they are trail runners, I can use them for anything at anytime though and highly recommend them to everyone I meet.

Awesome grip!
Finally got to take these out today for a 5 mile run. I bought them for exactly what today’s conditions threw at me: slushy streets, icy side walks, crunchy snow covered trails, and wintry mix stuff falling from the sky.My feet stayed dried and locked in. The laces stayed tight, and I could adjust them on the fly with gloves on. The soles gripped whatever it could, and mitigated whatever slippage occurred whenever it could not.I bought these sneakers because I have a boot by salomon with the same sole, and I liked how well they performed.Great shoe!

Time to get a second pair.
I was walking an average of 5 miles a day on a paved path and my back and knees were killing me. I wasn't sure if it was from my comfortable but worn slip-on Merrills but I had to try something.I got a few pairs from wardrobe, mostly a bunch of Skechers slip-on. None of them seemed fit for serious walking, but the Salomons rubbed around my ankle bones a bit and I was afraid the tiny quick-lace thing would snap in a hurry. I really wanted them to work and ended up taking the plunge with some hesitation. It was a perfect decision. They broke in and the rubbing stopped. The aching body stopped. They proved themselves water-proof and good enough for a few inches of snow. They look pretty good; kinda sporty yet I have never hesitated to wear them in a business setting, since they're so dark. It's been a year, the sole's wearing down and I'm having little aches again, the quicklace thing (which is so convenient and tidy looking) hasn't broken. Did I say it's been a year and I've put some serious mileage on these things? I won't hesitate to buy another pair.

Excellent tactical-looking footwear, mediocre running shoe
More of a low hiker than a running shoe. It is too heavy for good running but provides excellent protection for trails and the like. I found the bottom to be hard and mediocre in cushioning comfort. The speed-laces are nice but I hope they will last with the constant abrasion from tightening and loosening. I presently use them as daily footwear with tactical cargo pants and find them better looking than tactical boots.

Great quality. Runs 1/2-size small
This shoe replaced an 8-year old pair of Salomon XA Pro 3Ds that were built almost exactly like these and were both comfortable and durable. I use them for walking in the winter in temperatures of 25-40 degrees Fahrenheit. I have ran in these shoes, but find the soles too hard for my liking, especially when it's below 40 degrees. Traction on ice isn't any better or worse than any other footwear I've tried. Above 40 degrees they are too warm and my feet get too sweaty. I normally wear a size 11D in Asics running shoes and Danner boots, but need size 11-1/2D for these shoes. My actual foot size is 10-1/2 inches long (from heel to tip of big toe) and 3-3/4 inches at the widest (at the ball of my foot).I love the tuck-away lacing system and have never had a problem with laces coming lose or breaking.

Satisfied Customer
Bought the Trail Runners 2 weeks ago. I have flat feet and one foot is a little larger than the other. I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes. I wear size 13 and I ordered the 13M. The length is perfect. My heals slip a little but I don’t see that as a problem. I don’t even notice it any more. My toes have plenty of room to move. The first day I wore them I removed the insole and the underside was wet to the touch as well as the inside bottom of the sole. I replaced the factory insole with a Dr Scholls insole. So far there is no wetness. I’m planning on using these shoes for my 500 mile Camino walk. I’m sure at the end of a days hike my feet will be hot and damp. I did part of the Camino 2 years ago (same shoe but an earlier version) and my size 12 was a little to small but I managed. No blisters or any other problems.I’ve heard others say the sides of the shoe is to high and hits the ankle. The shoe is a little higher but it has not caused a problem for me. In fact I like the higher sides. Better support. The shoe is a little hot but that is a good thing when the temperature is cooler. The Dr Scholls insole seems to have helped with the heat. I don’t notice it now as I did with the factory insole. The soles are a knoby verses the soles on my previous pair. See photo. Good grip.I really like the shoe lace. I’ve never seen this kind before. It’s a very thin one piece nylon lace. No tying. Just pull them up tight and adjust the gripper down. Very nice. I don’t know what you’d do if they broke.Another comment was that they squeak when you walk. They did squeak when they first came out of the box but no more squeaking once you’ve used them.I have not used them in wet conditions but I have faith they will keep my feet dry. I can’t wait to get on the Camino. The trail runners feel and fit great.

Sehr bequemer Schuh, leider nicht lange Haltbar!!!
Ein sehr schöner Schuh. Sehr bequeme Laufsohle! Allerdings nach einer Tragezeit von knapp 3 Monaten ist die Schuhsohle abgetragen und rissig. Das darf bei einem Schuh dieser Marke und dem Preis nicht passieren.

These shoes are made for walking...and running

They are not waterproof for very long!!
This was my second pair of Salomon trail running WATERPROOF shoes. My first pair sadly started taking in water when they weren't quite a year old. I did like them a lot and decided to buy another pair in October 18. I am having to report that sadly, the latest pair, though only being 7 months old, are taking in water!! and it is both the left and the right! walking the dog with wet feet is not fun!I'm really disappointed as the shoe is a really good fit and looks good too. I think I will have to consider buying another brand. Any ideas would be very welcome. 🙁

Good fitting shoe.
I read all the reviews across the various sellers of the XA Pro 3D’s and saw a lot of reviewers experienced ‘sizing issues’.I went on the Salomon website and used their size guide to see what size I should buy. I usually get shoes in a UK size 8, my feet measure 25cm which according to Salomon is a UK size 7, having taken into consideration the other reviews, suggesting to buy a size larger, I purchased my usual UK size 8 and I’m glad to say the fit is spot on, so it’s worth measuring your feet and going from there.I work in concert touring and television so I’m constantly on and off my feet throughout my working day, regularly over 14 hours, these shoes, so far, have been very comfortable. I think the lace system is great and holds throughout. The tongue has a ‘pouch’ for the lace clip to be stored in so isn’t left flapping around. The inner sole is very comfortable, they didn’t need much “breaking in” which surprised me, and the added benefit of these having goretex meant my feet stayed dry whilst working outside in the wet weather recently.

Okay.....about the size thing.
So these just landed. I'm 60 and walk a lot. I live in the UK and have been a size 8 since forever. Read all the reviews and since these things are particularly expensive I also watched a few YouTube vids on these too. Just about everybody saying to go a size or at least half a size up. What I was worried about though is that the length would then be longer than my foot so in the end pressed the button on my regular size. Soooooo! Do they fit? After almost surgically (I've never had to do this my entire life) inserting my feet like a transplant into these shoes they are......errrr........snug! I feel they will loosen up a bit when I get going with them on. The length is unsurprisingly spot on but these things are narrow and I DO NOT have broad feet. You get the feeling there's some wee Vietnamese guy in Ho Chi Min City who has a job as a foot model where everybody gets their measurements from and I just hope that when after a decent walk: I take them off; my feet don't remain inside the shoe.
