Get Six of These!
I live in Southeast Arkansas. If you are not familiar with the Deep South, it is one of the hottest, most humid places you can imagine during the summer. My family lives on a small farm, and we are often working outside, using a tailgate as a workbench. In those conditions, staying hydrated is difficult. A steady supply of cold water is a must. Early this summer we began with two bags of ice in a cheap cooler. This process of buying two bags of ice every morning started to get really expensive. I decided to invest in one of the new generation of coolers. This helped matters greatly. Two bags of ice would hold for two days (which is impressive when the cooler is in the back of a truck in the AR sun all day). Still expensive, it was pretty gross because at the end of the day all of your water bottles are floating in some nasty (sweat, dust, etc.) albeit cold water. My quest for a solution to this problem led me to the Cooler Shock product via an Amazon search. I was skeptical because I read reviews that talked about the "bribe" the company offers for good reviews. I decided it was worth the cost to find out if the product worked as claimed.I can tell you that this stuff works! 3 pouches of this stuff in a 50 Quart K2 cooler will keep a case of bottled water cold for up to two days. By the end of the third day, the packs are all melted and the water bottles are just cool (which is still better than 95+ degrees). I was so impressed that I ordered another three pack of Cooler Shocks today. My plan is to use 3 and keep 3 in the deep freeze, rotating them every evening. This gives me an endless supply of cold water in the field with no buying ice and no nasty water in the cooler to clean out every day.

Pampered Pooch - Alternative use for Cooler Shock
Our puppy is a Samoyed (double coat fluff ball), build for sled pulling and snow, but not Houston heat. We got her cause the breed is great with kids and allegedly hypoallergenic. She couldn't sleep through the night because she was getting too hot in her crate. I purchased this product as an alternative to doggy chill mats, since the pet cooler mats when you put them in the freezer don't stay cold very long. We had tried several of them, and even hard freezing them we would end up adding blue ice packs to the crate/dog bed by 2:30 AM. I figured, these packs are big enough that I put all three into a pillow case and freeze them, it would be better than those cold mats that stay cool for only a few hours. With the Cooler Shock she makes it from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. By morning the Cooler Shock is pretty much thawed, but still cool to the touch. Blue Ice would be thawed completely and warm and that is with them being on a pet chill mat. Bottom line, I am able to get sleep through the night. The dog thinks it's the best treat ever, stares at the freezer waiting to be put to bed. I realize that is probably the strangest application every, but thermodynamically they do a great job next to a 101 degree furry heat exchanger.

Get These...
Product review: this was my second order of these.Pros:1. Cost: Very affordable, especially when comparing to the Yeti and RTIC packs2. They work: they freeze colder than ordinary ice packs and last longer as well. I have a 60L rotomolded South Jetty Cooler (southjettycoolers.com). Put a number of these in my cooler this past Monday. The packs, while no longer frozen (4 days later), are very very cold. More importantly the beverages in the cooler are still frosty cold.3. Ease of Set-Up. These are mailed without any liquid in them. There is a chemical in the pouches, that when mixed with water turns into a gel. The directions were clear and it was very easy to fill the piouches up with the required amount of water, get the air out, zip shut, dry the fold by the zip top and iron to seal. If someone is not comfortable with filling and sealing these ice packs themselves, I believe you can ordered them filled for an additional cost.4. Space Saving: Since the exterior is not a hard molded plastic bottle, these are smaller and more flexible. Which makes them fit in the cooler better. The pouches as a very heavy duty Mylar too pouch. They feel as though they're pretty strong.Bottom Line: I would HIGHLY recommend these for your cooler. I have yet to come up with a Con. If I do, I will revise my review accordingly.Update 17Jun18: I’ve been using these for nearly 1.5 years now. At one time I had 7 of these in various sizes. Today, I still have 5. What does that mean to me, it means they’re durable. I use these a lot while hunting, fishing, boating, & traveling. They hold up well and will start to delaminate over time. But for the cost savings and convenience over ice, that’s OK; they’re made of a Mylar packaging, not Kevlar. I will definitely order more of these soon.

Do not buy from DC Trade
seems like a good product and keeps things very cold as promised, but even though i have had the cooler shock for a year now, after only 3 uses, it developed a tear just under the filling cup, right along a seam. this was not from mis-use but just a flaw. None the less, DC Trade, will not take it back and issue a new one. terrible warranty on a seasonal product. so if you do want to purchase 1, please do not purchase from DC Trade as other vendors do sell it.

Excellent Freezer Packs
These work really well even with my cheap cooler! I filled, sealed and used them exactly as instructed. No problems. I'm grateful for the previous feedback stating you can't let these completely thaw out or they're done, so I've always made sure I refreeze as soon as I'm done with them. So far, so good.

Well designed and practical.
Bought as a gift. Not sure how it went - looked a little difficult to assemble. But looked well designed and practical.

Too hard
This does stay cold longer but I find it difficult to use as an icepack in a medical situation because it is too hard and does not conform to the shape of the area needing attention.
