These are little small for my 12 yr old figure skater but she wanted pads with a slimmer profile, which these do have. But they work well and take the worst of bad falls on the ice. Would recommend but consider sizing up.

I bought this because I wanted protection from falling when practicing figure skating jumps but did not want to spend 50-70 dollars on Jerry or Silver Lining shorts specifically for skating. These are much cheaper and work great! For many months I had been trying to land my double flip, but when I went for it and was able to rotate I fell so badly that I could not try jumping it again that practice session. I grew scared of falling and started two footing the jump all the time. When I got these, however, I no longer fell so painfully when I went for the jump so I was able to practice it and land it! Shortly after I landed my double lutz too! Today I can land and fall on them without wearing these shorts. When learning those jumps, these have saved me from many super painful falls and helped me overcome many of my fears of jumping. I also tried out Chloe noel butt/hip padding but I found placing them in my leggings annoying and they don't work as well as wearing shorts. I highly recommend getting these to improve in figure skating without constantly hurting yourself trying new jumps! I can still do my spins and everything while wearing these, and if I get hot (since they are not very breathable) I can remove them without having to remove my skates since they are super stretchy.

Good padding.

I wouldn't go by the height measurement - my son is 50" tall. Measured his hips ~24". Ordered the small, they fit well, not too tight so he has some grow room. We tried them out on our new roller skater and the first time he fell he said "OW!" and I was like "oh I guess they don't work" and he said "actually, it didn't hurt, I was just so prepared for it to hurt that I said OW". Well after that he took several spills, said it didn't hurt, and kept on skating. We decided this was a successful purchase. We put them OVER his pants - they have a slick stretchy spandex feel and while the padding isn't as substantial as I thought it would be it is apparently doing the job.

These are great for our 6 year old for roller skating. I wish there was a zipper or snap opening to get them on and off.

must say. seing it on line. looks like proper fit. but. then once received. realized needed size large. so. just let item sit in closet. would take to long for returning ,and getting right one.

Kid loves it easy to wear and really good protection.

We bought this for a child for ice skating lessons. It seems to work pretty well. The only downside was that it took a long time to arrive so if you need a butt pad, plan in advance. The pad itself seems to be pretty cushiony. I think it’s also well fitted.

The shorts are a good size and seem of good quality materials but the padding is placed in such a way that if I sit down only my tailbone will be on the padding, my sit bones will still be on the floor unprotected. Better than nothing but definitely needs improvement.

Huge gaps in the padding. I wanted it to protect my tailbone and there is no padding in the spot. Really bulky but the quality of the actual foam pads seems poor.
