DESKTOP Wooden Model Kit Ballista by Young Modeler

Got it as a gift for my son. He liked it.

4-22-18. Bought for office warfare. Put it together in front of TV. Looks really cool, and it -d o e s- "work". Just not very well. After messing with the torsion I did get it to fire but the catch and release part of it wasn't good enough for repeated use. Still, looks really cool, and fun to build. Cool as an educational tool. If I could get it to fire reliably, I'd recommend with five stars!Here is what you get. It is laser cut so comes apart easily and fit together very well. Very good instructions.

The pieces are extremely small and broke even just when removing them carefully from the larger wood piece they were attached to rendering the entire model useless. Would avoid at all costs.

While the kit assembled easily, once assembled it needed modification to make it work as described. The trigger mechanism would not work, a slot needs to be cut for the point of the part that hooks onto the bow string to fit in. Without it the bowstring slips out when pulling the bow back. The spindles that the tensioning cords attach to are made of wood and break easily. If the model is meant to be fired they should be replaced with metal.
