Be sure to check the wiring ! However it works Excellent!
Thus review is written in case someone has the same issue I did.I almost had to return this board as i originally wired it as my original board was wired. The small red and black leads actually need to be reversed on the replacement board. After the breaker tripped, I homed our the line inputs ( small red and black wires ) they were a dead short. After a few tests I reversed the red and black and it was no longer a dead short. NO WHERE IN THE INSTRUCTIONS DOES IT TELL YOU THIS! Let alone even address the small leads and which position they need to be on the board.Only the relay wires are addressed in the instructions. One would think it should not matter but it does!I attached two photos. One is with the replacement board. ( with the wires correctly placed) and photo two with the original board showing that the red lead was actually towards the front. That said after getting the wiring correct, the board is working properly. After having to order a second board thinking this one was defective.

Perfect replacement part
Our ‘Energy Smart’ Whirlpool-branded water heater died a week ago while my wife was filling the spa tub. The light was out, but there was power. Diagnostics suggested a dead board. Type in the model number, up comes this part. Here in a few days, install in 15 minutes, and - voila - hot water galore. Only issue was the red wire is too short - I just rerouted the white wire to make the connection. Not cheap, but what mother board is nowadays?

Got my water heater working again.
My water heater kept throwing error codes for the lower heating element and the hot water wouldn't last long enough to fill a sink to do dishes. After replacing the elements, I was still receiving the error codes so I decided to replace the board. The new board has a reset button that my old one didn't have to I had to drill a hole to get it to fit properly. After the modification, everything else mounted and connected without issue and now our hot water lasts seemingly forever. Well worth the purchase.

Save yourself some money!!!
Bought this after noticing that the green light turned off of the water heater. After checking that the power was still good running into the board I replaced it with this one. It worked perfectly and the company already had the wires set in the proper place. So far so good, I just really hope that the quality is there and it gives us many years of good service.

Best bang for the buck and great service
Bought this and thought it was defective. Sent it back and got a replacement. Then I realized there was a fuse blown in another device that was not allowing electricity to flow to thes device.I removed the bad section of my water heater and this device now works perfectly.Saved me a ton of money by not having to get a new heater.I have the 2009 Whirpool smart water heater. The heater is still going strong the but the smart device part went caput and this was the perfect replacement.Just follow the instructions and you are good to go.

The Water Heater is Working Again.
Installed this board for a neighbor. It fits exactly as the original except for the large red lead supplied is too short. Removed the original red lead(s) and used it with the new board. It would be helpful if the extra power wire terminals were loose in the package bag rather than on the relay terminals. Hold the individual relays when pulling them off or you risk breaking the board or relay. It's tight like pulling a tooth. The original wires in the water heater had terminals already on them.

Does not work
Board is EXACTLY like original. OLD board was flashing #5 error code(defective lower heating element) STILL WORKED, THO. Suddenly quit, I put in the new board, switched it on. NO error code(odd), switched on, then, after two or three seconds, switched off. Voltmeter confirms power to upper heating element. shut off, with No error code after two or three seconds. No other info available.

Works for my older Whirlpool water heater 40 gallon model
Got panel to fit into the old unit's cover after bending some wiring tabs. Could used better electric connectors than those that were included. You should buy some connectors that are square with push in channels that lock down for each wire. They are safer and less likely to come loose later on.When panel was inserted into the old plastic cover, the buttons and light were a bit off center but got them squeezed in.Works like the original unit now.
