GM Parts 12499224 Valve Spring for LS1 Engine

Had a lobe on my cam go bad, why not go bigger? put a comp cam .524 with a 270 duration, added these as insurance. Great price for a good spring. had to do one side with the head on, simply slipped rope in the cylinder rotated the piston all the way up. Too easy..

I paired this with:Competition Cams 787-16 Steel RetainersGM Parts 12499224 Valve SpringCompetition Cams 648-16 7 degree Race locksRemoved stock springs and retainers off my Vortec heads and added these for more lift between the valve stem seal and spring retainer. I have about .505-,520 lift with this combo and I could get a little more by changing the valve stem seals. The valve springs fit with no machine work and are much nicer than the original springs when it comes to coil bind. Cheap upgrades for more lift capability. Perfect for pairing with 1.6 rockers.

My machine shop said these are the way to go, and he was right. I can spin my 4.8 over 6500 RPM with stock rockers and a mild cam. Before it was floating valves at about 5800.

This is only 1 valve spring, not a set as shown like the part number is supposed to be.

No issues with the install on my 02 Z06 Corvette (LS6). These are not blue as the picture shows BUT that is because the newer springs from GM are no longer painted, they are bare metal as these ones are. Buy with confidence.

These are good springs and the correct ones for your order. They come individually labelled P/N 12713265. This part supersedes P/N 12625033. A package of (16) 12625033 has the GM P/N 12499224. So it is the correct set of springs but the geneology takes some explanation. Also, they're not blue but that's typical for these springs.

OEM GM parts brand new individually packaged. These are the same springs used in LS6 motors and that’s exactly why I bought them. They are a great budget spring to use on LS heads. I am putting an LS6 cam in an LS1 and needed the extra valve lift rating for the .550” lift LS6 cam.
