Works great for me
Exterior walls do a pretty good job blocking wifi signal, and sticking an AP/router in a window usually results in it overheating in the sun. Plus in my situation there's just no place to mount it in the window, out of the way. This cable makes it very easy to put the router next to the window, while routing the antenna directly in the window, vastly improving signal strength and reducing dropped connections. Absolutely perfect for me, and an expensive low-loss cable wouldn't do any better in my situation. I plan to buy a couple more, just in case.

Wi-Fi Antenna Extension Cable
I had purchased a High-Gain Wi-Fi antenna previously on Amazon which delivered exceptional performance and value. However, due to its size it was very awkward sticking out the side of my lap-top. Additionally, I wanted to install the antenna in a more suitable location away from the computer for better reception. I ordered this cable and both problems were solved. Although this cable is lengthy, the signal loss is minimal and it works well with my application. One VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Most Wi-Fi equipment uses RP-SMA (REVERSE-POLARITY, Sub-Miniature, Type A) Connectors! In other words, what you would assume to be the male is actually female and vice-versa. In layman's terms: the connectors are trans-gendered compared to standard SMA Connectors. This was done by the FCC to separate professional from consumer and also make it difficult to connect an antenna with gain in a consumer installation or prohibit consumer use of professional equipment. However, both connectors are now widely available, but you better do your homework. I saw SEVERAL customer reviews that were not satisfied with this and other similar products because they stated that "it had the wrong ends." This was not the fault of the seller as it was the buyer. Check YOUR connectors BEFORE you buy.

WiFi 3M Antenna Extension Cable RP-SMA
These Extension Cable's work GREAT!Set-up: Main CPU in Den connected to D-Link DIR-655 Wireless Router. Replaced stubby Short Antennas with two 5" and one 9" RP-SMA antennas. Router placed high, about 5' above PC. Second HTPC in Family Rm between sofa and end table, along side easy chair. Connected to HDTV with 25' SVGA+audio Cable. Replaced two standard antennas with two 15" RP-SMA antennas. Network signal four bars and works for most applications with the exception of Window's MC TV Recorded Digital Channels on Den PC (Turner is only on this PC). While Analog was O.K., Digital recorded programs would sometimes freeze or have intermitting signal disruptions - starting and stopping or audio breakup - especially with ABC programs. In an effort to correct this, I first purchased Diamond's WR300N Wireless Range Extender (set-up as repeater). While it increased my network strenght from 4 to 5 bars, it totally destroyed all ability to play Win 7 TV Recorded Files with WMC. I wasn't able to play ANY OF THEM with this WR300R plugged in, no matter where I tried it! Video streaming was fine, but then that wasn't what I was trying to correct as it wasn't a problem to begin with. I return the WR300N to Amazon, which they accepted and credited my account without question. Purchased two of these WiFi 3M Anetenna Extension Cables, which easily connected to my Wireless Card and previously purchased 15" Antennas. That enabled me to place the Antennas in a much better location and got them out from behind my HTPC. Since they didn't come with any type of support base (I was initially going to build my own), I just draped them over the back of my Lamp Shade (that was on my end table) and let them hang down inside. The network signal increased from four to five bars, but this time it also greatly improved Win 7 WMC's ability to read and play all of my shared TV Recorded Programs without any hiccups. Now ALL my video streaming is excellent without any problems what-so-ever. (This is as long as Microsoft's WMC and Internet Explorer/Google don't go bizzar. Both PC's are Dell's Intel I-3 Inspiron 580 Models with OS Win 7 but they don't always run smoothly despite Check-ups with Data Doctors and Webroot's Security Anywhere protection programs. They will freeze-up (one or the other PC) with no apparent reason and have to be re-booted to be corrected. Also, for no apparent reason sometimes the Den's "shared" TV Recorded files won't be recognized by my Family's HTPC WMC Program. No rhyme or reason for it. I have to go back to my Den PC and mark them shared again before they'll work. Ridiculous and annoying to say the least!)UPDATE 03/08/2013 NOTE: After using these cables for 9 months, I found that they have started to cut in and out making my signal unstable and inconsistent. I have to keep jiggling the ends of the connectors to get my signal back, only to have it start cutting in and out shortly after. I'm assuming that the wires that connect to the connectors are made poorly. Too bad, because when they worked my signal was great. Now I'm back to getting a weak signal that breaks-up. Now I'm trying to find better quality extension cables, so I can again get my antennas from behind my HTPC, again. I have to change my rating from 5 to 1 because of poor manufacturing quality leading to a short usability time frame.

Fit the job perfectly
I installed my wireless router/HS-DSL modem from my ISP (Qwest) in a steel wall panel in a basement utility room at home. There were holes in the panel where the router's antennas could protrude, but the wireless performance was poor with a small range.I bought two of these cables and extended the wireless antennas to places within the floor joists above the panel. This allowed placement of the antennas for best range and coverage. Wireless performance is MUCH better. I purchased inexpensive metal brackets from Parts Express to mount the antennas securely to the wood joists. These cables had the exact connectors I needed, lengths were more than adequate and the performance is very good (signal strength is VERY good). I highly recommend using these cables if your problem is poor wireless router placement. double check the connector type. These cables were EXACTLY as specified and pictured on the site.

It improved my signal
My computer is under the desk not on top of the desk as it should by the name. So the internet antenna is also blocked by my desk which is made of metal. With Cox internet service, I was getting okay download speeds but never to the maximum of what I pay to get. So I tried this 'antenna extension' to bring my antenna to the top of the desk. Well, the trick is working. It has improved my internet download speed by 2 to 3 mbps faster. Still not the maximum amount that I pay for, but a decent improvement. Another trick is that now I can move and point the antenna to a better location to get better reception rather than fixed to the location of my PC.

Optimal WiFi antenna placement.
My desktop is 75 feet, 6 walls, and 1 floor separated from the router. I used this cable to move the rear, external antenna on my desk top computer. A couple of feet of changes in placement made a great difference in received signal strength. It went from 2 bars to full strength.Just unscrew the antenna from the back of the computer. Then screw the cable to the computer and the antenna to the other end of the cable. Then you can move the antenna where ever you want while leaving the computer in place.
