Bodum 2-Slice Bistro Toaster with Bun Warmer, Black

I've been shopping for toaster ovens for months, to replace the ancient, rusted, falling apart, firetrap that recently resided on my counter, but just hadn't found one that appealed to me. Most of them get way too hot - dangerous with small, curious children running about - and really don't seem to actually toast all that well, based on the reviews. Finally, in a moment of pure revelation, it occurred to me that I don't actually do anything except toast in my toaster oven, so why not just purchase a regular toaster?!OK, so on to the Bodum toaster. Amazing! First off, it's gorgeous to look at, with its rounded exterior & sleek and simple buttons. Second, thanks to the silicone wrapper, the exterior stays room temperature during toasting so a lot less danger there. And thirdly, the toast, oh, the toast! When I handed the first slice to my oldest, he looked at it in wonder and said, "Mom, you've made me the perfect piece of toast!" And it is perfect - evenly toasted, top to bottom, front and back, with perfect toast lines. Toast-y on the outside and warm throughout, but not too dry. We've also done frozen waffles (perfection!), Hawaiian rolls (almost brought me to tears), and pop tarts (amazing!). Everything seems to cook so evenly, exactly what I needed in a toaster.Very easy to clean, too. The rolls were a little crumbly, but the crumb tray of the toaster slides right out for easy emptying.

This is a great toaster that works perfect and easy to maintain. The warming feature is more useful than I imagined, I use it all the time. It also comes in nice colors.This toaster still barley works after a year and half. I liked the looks but it has been a problem for about a year, the plastic on the top has melted ,it would not engage all the time ,doesn't toast well either. Bodum is an expensive brand but this toaster is real junk. It seems to have been designed by someone that doesn't toast bread, once again design over function. The amount of junk out there is stunning, I have just replaced this one.

Pretty happy with this so far. It works pretty well and looks nice. Cord storage is a big improvement over my last toaster. I have used and like the bun warmer on top. The bread slots are a little shallow but it is not usually a problem. If they were deeper this would be five stars.Update 7 months later, sometimes the bread goes down but does not stay down. So I have to fiddle with it. I can't figure out why it does this, I just keep trying till it "clicks".Update: Now 2.5 years old and I can't get the bread to stay down at all, even when I fiddle with it. Pretty disappointing at this price point. I bought a $20 from a store instead.

Admittedly I purchased this mostly for aesthetics and it did look great. Why I needed my toaster to stand out, I cannot say. It worked fairly well, toasting evenly, albeit a little more slowly than the T-Fal it replaced. Once I figured out its quirks, it wasn't a bad toaster. However, in light of its demise after a mere seven months, I can give it only 2 stars. It's as toaster; it isn't supposed to break until you hate it and want it to break.The Good- Toasted evenly, never ate my toast- Looked great- Cool touch exterior did not burn me onceThe Bad- Died after seven months, now it's a terrible waste of landfill spaceHere are the other minor issues I had with it:- It was a bit of an overachiever when ejecting toast, especially English muffins which had about a 1 in 3 chance of landing on the counter or floor.- It is a bit taller than other toasters, making it slightly more clumsy when placed under cabinets- The crumb tray is too small and there are many slots which seemed to constantly eject crumbs onto the counter top. Granted, this seems a common problem with toasters in general, however, it seemed extreme in the case of this toaster

I've had this toaster for about 6 years now and I've like the features it has. One of my favorite things is the pop up rails on the top over the slots that you can use to support the toast and keep it warm until your eggs (or whatever) are ready. I also like the push button that is used to eject the toast if you just can't wait for it. What I don't like is the rubberized coating. As other reviewers have mentioned, the rubberized coating gets sticky and when you try to clean it, the coating comes off. My toaster is nearly smooth now from cleaning, but the sides have these raised dots where you can't scrub off the sticky stuff, so there are patches of stickiness. It collects lint from towels and looks kind of nasty. I still give it 4 stars because I like the features and the looks of the toaster and it's done a fine job of making toast, but I'm looking at new toasters now just because of the stickiness issue. I would suggest to Bodum to do away with the rubberized coating and make the toaster smooth and easy to clean. That would make it a 5 star toaster.

I wish I saw all the other negative reviews before making this foolish purchase. I trusted the Bodum name, but that was a mistake.This stupid machine has a mind of its own and definitely doesn't think it's a toaster. It won't stay down, and then if it finally does it will pop up after 30 seconds untoasted. The toast is completely uneven: burnt edges, soft patches. Sometimes it even decides to shoot the toast out with such force that it launches clear of the toaster and onto the counter.This toaster is infuriating! Avoid it at all costs.

We received the Bodum toaster we chose after serious analysis of several makes and models. It worked just as expected: it is fast, is very easy to adjust and performs exactly as set every time. I would readily recommend it because it is reliable and delivers quality with a low cost performance ratio.

The Bodum toaster is a good unit but surprised that it is missing a bagel setting.The simple addition would make this toaster a 5 star rating.

The toaster part is great, it looks good and toasts fine BUT and this is huge - it has a ridiculously short cord. If I saw it beforehand I never would have bought it for this reason. I mean they say it is for "safety" but I think it is manufacturing cost cutting. I have to move things around on my counter to get this toaster close enough to a plug in.

It does the job. Bread has been toasted crisply and evenly, to my utmost satisfaction.If you ever cook curry near this thing, or anything with tumeric, be careful, cause stains are hard to get out.
