Odyssea CFS 500 Canister Filter with Media Aquarium External 100G 500 GPH

After less than a year I noticed the filter was not working. Took the lid off and stuck my hand in and was met with a jolt of electricity. Upon inspection of the pump, the resin used to seal the pump has cracked letting water into the electronics of the pump. Contacted seller. Nothing. This is extremely dangerous. IT COULD KILL YOU. SELLER DOES NOT CARE.Replacement pump has failed in less than 2 months. Same issue. Pump cracks under normal use. Media cleaned frequently. It will electrocute all who touch the tank water. Beware of TopDog seller. Never responded to emails. Terrible filter, worse company. Period.

This is really just an aquarium water scrubber, only having foam pads. It clears up the water but needs to be cleaned regularly.This is NOT an aquarium biomedia filter which supports good biological filtration.This scrubber is a decent addition to an aquarium with a bio media canister filter that leaves the water clouded and just can't keep up with the fish, without having to move to the next size media canister which can cost several hundred more $$$It can be an option for some, but I returned it as it was not what I expected.

After about10 years of continuous use our original version 1 of this filter had the motor burn up. In this new v2 I was happy to see they made some improvements to the valves and added some more O rings. V1 filter would leak around the base of the valves if we ever moved them. This looks like it will not happen any longer because the tip of the filter now goes in to the bottom of the valves with some O rings. It is nice to know they are improving their product. Instead of filling the filter manually before closing the top I just used the hoses to siphon the water into the filter body.

Immediately after running pump for the first month I ordered a second one and have been extremely satisfied.

This thing only lasts 2 months there is nothing you will be able to do about it. There is no warranty no replacement no refund.

This filter is fantastic and easy to install.Unbox, install, fill filter with water, turn on.Easy. Your water will be BEAUTIFUL in just a few days. Had it installed for a month now, and haven’t needed to clean it yet.

Update 12-1-2020 Pump failed, Just Dead in the afternoon, How long is the warranty? it lasted almost a year.This performs pretty well, I knocked off a star because I had to rebuild the motor before it would pump and another one because it is not self priming, it may have primed itself had I filled the canister with water before I set it in its place, I read the instructions 2x and it did not say so, ended up taking it all apart again, rebuilding the pump motor and primed it properly, now it runs well, lots of flow, foam pads are all pro-priority and I hope replacements are available. Valves are proprietary also...
