I recently did the CV boots on my 3rd gen Tacoma. The OEM boot kit (per axle) comes with one big clamp that’s different than the rest, so I bought this clamp kit to replace that one. This kit worked great and I have two clamps left over for the next job.

Very heavy duty .030 in. thick the old ones were.015 , need single ear clamp pliers for crimping retainer, $12.00.

It not eazy to install tight enough to keep water out if need. Ready need the right tool to install this ring.

Its seems that any CV boot clamp is tricky to install, but these worked OK as long as (1) the axle shaft is level and is not drooping down , so that (2) the CV joint inside the boot is not angled down, which (3) allows the boot's inner end to be pushed toward the engine and become completely seated. Seating is easier if you can manually rotate the axle as you push the boot inward. (Note: if you have to take the car out PARK, by stepping on the brake pedal to rotate the axle, be sure the brake calipers are still mounted on the rotor or will have a hassle getting the caliper back on) You will probably need to secure the clamp with a boot clamp pliers; I used the Lyle 30500, which is also one of the few tools that will actually grip and remove an old clamp. The old clamps can become unseated and leak grease, if your car is leaning too much on curves, possibly because the stabilizer links have become detached.

They fit exactly to my 2006 Toyota Avalon xls , both inner and outer ends of the cv axle assembly .

I used these clamps to hold my CV boot on after replacing it. This clamp seemed to be of good strength and quality upon inspection. It went on just fine and crimped down as it should, everything seemed to be going well until I took it out for a test drive to make sure everything would hold up. When I got back, the clamp was found 10 feet from the parking spot it was in before the test drive. It snapped on one of the corners of the part that crimps together to hold tension. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.
