Great door closure
I used these hydraulic door closers on security door and they represent a big improvement over all the pneumatic types I have tried. There is no "bump" when the door closes; it is a very smooth close. In one case, I had to drill one new hole for the door bracket, but installation was easy as I used most of the mounting holes from the previous installation. About the only thing less than optimum is closing adjustment speed can only be done in 1/2 turns of the tube or barrel and sometimes it would be nice to be in-between to get the perfect close.

replaced my older one(probably 30 years old) a world of difference in the door closing department. E-Z to install... E-Z to adjust I did lose the little bar lock thingy...any chance of getting a free replacement bar lock thingy?

I'm on my third one in 3 years.
These are really great on my front storm door -- until they aren't anymore. I just ordered my third one of these hydraulic closers in a little over 3 years. They work great for about 1 year. Then for whatever reason they completely stop working -- the door slams shut as though there is no hydraulic cylinder on it at all after about 1 year of use. So it's a good new / bad news product. The good news is they work really well at closing your door slowly and easily for about a year. The bad news is that when the year is over, they completely stop working and the solution is shelling out more money for a brand new replacement.

Work well but could be improved
I've always preferred these hydraulic units over pneumatic. I use these on storm doors where there is not enough room for a top-mounted closer. I would prefer that they had more adjustability and a slow-close setting. My issue is the storm door that needs a "pull" because the air between the door and the storm door can't escape. That is something that the top-mount closers do better. These just try to slam it and that will never work properly, unfortunately.

Leaked oil in less than 1 year
The closer seems to work OK. The spring is maybe a little too strong. The problem is that the seal leaked the hydraulic oil within 8 months of purchase. Huge mess on the concrete under the door. It will be hard to get out.

Started leaking in about three months
Having installed a new Pella full view storm door, I also wanted an upscale closer that wouldn’t bounce as it closed. I’ve used hydraulic closers before so this was my first choice. This Wright hydraulic was rather expensive for a closer but didn’t mind paying the cost twice as much. It worked well for three months, then one day I noticed a drop of oil on the closer. I just wiped it off and forgot it. Next time I used the door, there was a drip hanging again. This time the door bounced just like a cheap pneumatic closer. I will probly send it back, since I paid for a nice closer that WON’T bounce. I don’t recommend at this point.

Fits
Seems like the original Toyota part, fits perfectly. Can tell if it will last as long as the OEM part.
