Citadel: Forged with Fire (PS4)

Spent 80 hours on this. Now level 60 and still hooked. Server crashes a lot but sometimes good for 3 hours no crash so it's no problem.

I love the ability to play as a wizard or a witch in a lush open world. Getting your first broomstick at level 10 is a great thrill and the whole world opens up if you have the mana to keep you aloft. You can attach two spells to either an axe, a wand, a staff or gauntlets. Each weapon will affect what spells can be used and you have to swap through them on the fly which keeps combat exciting. Tame beasts is fun. I regularly have two bears with me. If anyone can catch a wolf let me know. They keep running away. There are tons of spells to create depending what essence you use and they can be augmented by up to five herbs or fungi.Let’s not forget the extensive building options. You start with wood and built up to marble. The scope of what you can build is immense. Spiral staircases, towers you name it. Let’s not forget the dragons. They tend to frequent mountain tops in the northern half of the map. Brave souls can try capturing them, adding a saddle and taking to the skies. At my current level 19 I have seen them and flown away as fast as my broom can fly. I will need to be level 30 and up before I can tackle them.The servers are quite busy. The odd PVP realm is full and the PVE realms usually max at 38 players out of an allowed 50. It’s very different on the PC servers where in early access the game got very mixed reviews. It’s that slightly bad reputation that I think has dented the release. The game is just not getting the coverage it needs to make it a success. Check out the gameplay videos on YouTube.Downsides? Well the controls on the PS4 are hard to get used to at first. Navigating the map is very slippy. You just cannot hit the locations easily to add the markers or the fast travel towers you unlock as you play. Also square is the item pickup key. It’s also the weapon swap key so unless your cursor is targeted on something you will accidentally swap weapons which can be a pain at first. You can rebind what commands each key uses if it starts to drive you mad. I am used to it now.I have logged over 20 hours since it launched at midnight on Thursday and it’s now only 12:30 on Sunday! I think I have only had seven or eight hours sleep in all that time. I am feeling pretty wrecked. Still it’s not bad for a 61 year old gamer.I really like the game and I highly recommend it. I am even tempted to go buy a PC to play it on, it’s that good.
