Good Night, Gorilla (Picture Puffins)

This book is fantastic! My 2 year old daughter loves animals and this has quickly become one of her favorite stories. We read it every night. The story is great length for young children- not too short or long. There are not many words either so the story can be interpreted/ told in different ways. Overall would highly recommend.

My kids loved looking at the engaging pictures in this book when they were little. I always enjoyed reading it to them before bedtime, which is saying something after four kids. Such a cute, sweetly mischievous story. Now I buy it for baby showers, so new moms can read and snuggle with their little ones for years to come.

This is a darling book. It was one of our children’s favorites so it’s what I like to give as baby shower gifts. Being a board book helps keep it from falling apart, though ours still got beat up after several children and it being a well loved book. The story is a cute story about a sneaky monkey but we loved finding the parts of the balloon or its string or the moon on every page. Or looking for the mouse and the banana. It became very interactive and fun.

I can't comment on the paperback (which has words, I guess), but the board book is great. There are no words, so you have to describe what's going on yourself, which I actually prefer, since I frequently do this anyway with books that have words (whether because the words just don't catch my daughter's attention or because I just think it's more creative to discuss the pictures and describe the story). What's cool about this book is that if you look in the background of every picture, you can watch the red balloon slowly get smaller and smaller as it goes further away, and the same thing for the moon! When I realized this, I thought it was so cool (since it's not something you might notice right away), and when I showed my daughter, she LOVED showing me how she could find the balloon and the moon on every page!! (and I made a big deal when she did!) I don't know how the paperback version (with words) goes, but I love this one and so does my daughter! (And if you find you like the little hidden/less obvious things, you can do the same thing with "Goodnight, Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown - there's a tiny little mouse that you can try to follow from picture to picture, and it's NOT part of the intentional part of the story, since it's not described in the words anywhere - just, I think, a cool addition, and my daughter loves finding it, too!)

Favorite children's book! The story is so cute and your child will love looking for the hidden secrets (balloon floating away, mouse with a banana, etc). The board book is sturdy and has held up to dozens of storytimes with my child. I give this as a baby shower gift every time.

Such a great book easy to read . Read to my son who loved it and wanted a copy to read to his new baby!

I received this book as a baby shower gift and quickly understood why. At first, the lack of words was a little off-putting. I gave it a chance, and both my kids loved it. It was the first book they truly understood and laughed at. The story is also relatable to little toddlers who get out of their beds, and need to be returned to their beds by their parents. The images in the book have recurring items like the moon, banana/mouse, and balloon so the child learns to look for them on each page. Offers a lot of opportunities to add your own text or expressions because of the simplistic style of the book. We are a bilingual family and I find it makes it easier to translate, too. My 3.5-year-old still enjoys reading it and now can read it to her sibling. Also, it's very heavy-duty and durable. None of the pages have been torn off or separated, or stuck together like some other board books. It's been through heavy use and is still in great condition. Tolerates chewing reasonably well.

I love this book. Though I don't know how to ready this yet to my baby since it has little words written but it is very funny book. You just have to make your own story for this

The pictures are great and the story is humourous. There are barely any words but the storyline is conveyed beautifully nonetheless. My two year old loved this book!!
