Like it a lot
Being the Scrooge that I am, I wasn't sure I wanted to lay out the $80 for this case when there are cheaper alternatives out there. But since I didn't want a cheap-looking acrylic case, I eventually went with this one, and I'm glad I did. It was very well packed, wrapped in bubble-wrap, tucked inside styrofoam, enclosed in a cardboard box, inside another cardboard box with a bit of packing paper to keep it from sliding around. There was even a small foam sheet between the shelves and the glass to make sure it all arrived in one piece. Pulling it out of all the packing, it smelled strongly of glue. A high-gloss finish was applied to all of the visible wood surfaces (I went with the cherry). The back is made of felt-covered cardboard and is stapled to the back of every shelf with three staples. It feels sturdy. Has a big Made in China sticker in the middle. The door fits flush over the front; it's not airtight, but it does fit well and should easily keep dust off the contents. The interior sides of the case are notched for the shelves to rest in. It looks like they are slid in from the back and presumably glued in place. They are securely anchored and not adjustable. A half-round strip slightly thicker than a shelf is glued on the front of each shelf, creating a tiny lip to provide a little extra assurance that your cars won't accidentally slide off. If you cram them together you can get five cars on each shelf for a total capacity of 60, but I gave mine a little room to breathe so it will only hold 48. I would buy it again. Edit 1/16/2013: After almost two years and a move to a new home, this case is still in great shape and looks beautiful on my wall. The other reviewers are correct, the door is not actually glass but it works great for me. It's transparent, blocks UV and is thick enough to feel sturdy. My collection has grown though; I now have 53 cars in it, forcing me to put 5 cars on some shelves. I haven't bought another one of these cases yet because I'm a Scrooge, but I did just order a matching baseball bat case from this company. I'm sold on the craftsmanship!

It looks rad in my living room
It definitely helps me by taking up a lot of cars. Yep, I collect too many of them. The case also displays them in the best way possible.

This is the display case you MUST buy...
Wow! Really impressed. If your reading this then you do research and I am the same way. So when I advise you to stop researching and buy this product, I mean it. Here is why: 1) A+ Quality = sturdy with quality construction and professional finish, brackets are tight and clasp well closing all seems around display with perfect fit, hanging mounts in rear upper and left corners are connected firmly to cabinet and they come with hanging hardware 2) A+ Appearance = I ordered 2 black displays and the finish is extremely smooth and glossy, no bubbling or cracking, no ‘pits’ in frame or cabinet sides 3) A+ Packaging = both packages were bundled together as to keep the shipment together, internally packaged with foam corners and also foam supports on back and front of display, easy to remove glass protectant in both sides of cabinet door 4) A+ Price = searched all over online and a million different ideas and found the answer is here, no better option for price with quality Added a quick photo. Not hung yet but had to open and see what it looked like.

Helps reduce chance of stepping on hot-wheels around the house
My 3 year old owns ~75 hot wheel vehicles which typically is scattered throughout every room in our home. I bought this to help clutter. It looks nice, is of decent quality, and does what it is designed to do. Although two things to keep in mind: 1) it only fits Hot Wheels, a lot of the matchbox cars doesn't fit 2) It takes significantly more effort for a 3-5 year old to put cars into display case vs just throwing them in a bucket which is much easier and cheaper. Overall I think it's still worth it because it makes for a nice wall decoration for kids rooms.

Show off your cars!
I use these for my cars from the Car Wars game. No more hiding them in a box, up on the a wall for all to see and be envious of. :-) Really a fabulous way to display any set of cars or I assume lot of other things. Excellent craftsmanship.

Strikingly beautiful way for adults to show and enjoy Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars
This display cabinet is much, much more beautiful than it appears in the Amazon photos. If you want to see and show off your little cars, you should get this. IMPORTANT: I see this as a display case for an adult’s toy car collection, not as a toy box for a child. It’s big, it’s heavy, and the door is made of glass. Like many of you, I have accumulated Matchbox and Hot Wheels since I was a kid many decades ago. In fact, I have a big box of them in the garage from my childhood. My favorites have stayed on my desk, mostly old cars and trucks, though every so often I buy new ones. The problem was that my desk was getting crowded, and the little cars would roll off the back, or get buried under piles of paper. The solution: Get a display case! This was easier said than done. Stores like Walmart and Target didn’t have anything at all suitable, though there are nice plastic carry cases for kids’ car collections. I found this one on Amazon and although it much cost more than I expected (my initial budget was $20), it seemed worth the price. In short: It’s delightful. You can see the cars that I have in there now, some new, some vintage from my childhood. (There’s also a US Marine Corps challenge coin in there, but it doesn’t fit very well.) I’m still adding new cars; I can fit five cars per shelf, and 10 shelves are completely unobscured so that’s up to 50 cars that are shown in all their glory. The shelves at the top and bottom are slightly obscured by the door frame, but that’s another 10 cars. Each shelf has a little lip that keeps the cars in place without blocking their tires. A lot of thought clearly went into the design and manufacturing of this display case. The construction is fairly heavy-duty, and the glass is very clear. Another reviewer wrote that it’s plexiglas, and I can’t tell. However, the glass is very reflective; at some point, I might spray some matte finish on it to get rid of the reflections. That’s my only criticism. The latch is quite sturdy. I have no concerns that the door will open accidentally. It’s really fun being able to see my little cars in all their glory, and now I take out a couple of cars at a time, have them on my desk for a while, and then put them back. This display case makes me smile. What more could an adult want for his/her toy car collection?

Sturdy, attractive case with inadequate mounting hardware.
The case is great, and way nicer to me than those entirely transparent plastic ones that can cost as much. But it's rather heavy, in my opinion, for the two little screws and wall anchors that came with it. I can't image this staying on a wall board wall, full of die cast metal cars, with the little screws and wall anchors that came with it. The easy solution was to get some way-longer screws with corresponding wall anchors but with heads that still fit within the mounting hinges on the back of this display case. Problem solved, and my growing die-cast car collection never looked better.
