The Blue Lagoon (Dover Literature: Romance)

Beautiful romance
This is the novel on which the more famous movie was based. Both versions begin the same and follow very similar lines. The novel is the first of a trilogy that definitely does not follow the movie sequels. Two young cousins, Richard and Emmeline, are shipwrecked on a small Pacific Island, at first with an old sailor and later on their own. As the years pass the children make a home on their island paradise and as they mature they fall in love and begin a family. The story is captivating, and beautifully written.

Not Enough To Keep Me Liking It
Despite this novel has the correct page length while it's ink isn't that bright the story wasn't that interesting as I thought it would be.The start of it is fine as reading old Irish text isn't that hard to understand. However when it reaches the point when the two main characters are older the author doesn't seem to have much for them to do other then find sea shells and hunt fish. When both of them start having sex their isn't any detail of it just them exploring their bodies and that's about all the sex stuff is off scene so you won't be reading that. And when the teenage girl has the baby it's unrealistic as she walking around fine after having it a few moments ago and stating "It came from the forest"I wish book had more to it as gets boring very quickly. If the author wrote more adult content and gave both characters more to do then it would have been better.

I watched the movie
I had watched the movie as a young girl, it had a huge impact on me, so did this book. I could follow along very well and picture the movie as I was reading. Very descriptive but in no way mushy. I highly recommend this book and to watch the movie both. Either way, they are pretty much the same and easy to follow both.

the author got to me
It was an interesting book with very descriptive writing. I did not like to ending where the children were rescued, but were they saved? The author does not tell you.

Original story written in 1842 to the movie The Blue Lagoon
The book is the original for the movie The Blue Lagoon. The book is pretty much verbatim to the movie. So good.

My first taste of romance.
Having been an avid reader for many a year, I have never dabbled in the world of Romance. This book changed that. The nautical terms, the descriptions, everything, just as wonderful as the worlds created by Tolkien or Lewis. Something I may consider reading again when the fancy arises.

A Hidden Gem
Truly a hidden gem. It is both naturalistic and fanciful. Really enjoyed it. If only the other books of the series were available in hard print as well.
