Mrs. MEYER'SSoy Candle, Basil, 7.2 OZ

This was my first Mrs. Meyer's purchase and I love it so much, I have since bought the dish soap, body lotion and another candle!! With household members who are particularly sensitive to smells and fragrances, I have to be careful to choose products that have a light & slight enough scent to be noticed but not to overwhelm the nostrils and cause sinus headaches. THIS CANDLE fits those requirements perfectly!About the candle itself and what it contains:- Soy & Cottonseed Wax Base: A renewable wax from a mix that is an earth-friendly wax that burns cleanly, delivers fragrance and ambient scent (not overpowering)!- Scented with Essential Oils: Made with a mixture of natural, high-quality essential oils and safe synthetic fragrance ingredients that feels like positive and happy aromatherapy!- Lead Free Cotton WickEach candle has different scents (obviously) but I got the Basil scent which contains Basil Oil, Parsley Seed Oil, and Black Pepper Seed Oil which when used in tandem create a mild spicy or almost tangy fragrance with earthy base tones.What I love about it:- Gentle fragrant effect that doesn't overpower the house but is more subtle- Cruelty-free (Not tested on animals)- Simple, clean design in a clean jar so it is unobtrusive and goes with any interior style- Wick is almost perfectly centered- Free of Phthalates, Paraffin, Lead- 35-Hour burn-time- Lights easily and burns cleanly without thick black smoke when you extinguish it, but it does have a light grey thread of smoke that takes several seconds to burn out)I really do love these candles and the imaginative scent combinations. Other than that it smokes for a bit too long, I'd say my only complaint is when you get to the bottom, there is a lot of candle wax left over in the jar when wick burns to end - maybe a fifth of the candle wax is still there but is unusable. I've had other candles that burned clean to bottom of jar. But this is a minor complaint when I am otherwise so pleased. I'd recommend and will be buying again in Basil, Lemon Verbena & Honeysuckle which are my favorite scents so far.

I Absolutely love the scent of these candles. I usually will sit them on a candle burner without using a flames so they last for over a week or more. I can enjoy the aroma for a long time and when the scent gets close to fading out of the wax then I will let it get solid again and burn the wick to enjoy the scent even longer. This way my candles last for several weeks.

I love these candles. They are cute in the little jar and more fragrant than my Yankee candles. I love the geranium scent. I've ordered these before and they came wrapped tightly. This pack of six was not wrapped properly, just boxed. The arrived in what appeared to be good condition until I pulled then out of the box. Two of the six candles shifted during shipping and the wax came loose and slipped toward the top. This made the wicks come out from the bottom. Impossible to fix. Amazon was great and gave me the option of keeping them with a discount or returning them. Ill keep them but I am hesitant on reordering again. Hopefully with enough complaints they will package them better. My 4 star is due to shipping problems. I would give the candle itself 5 stars.

I walked into the Inn at Langley lobby and immediately was struck by how good it smelled. When I discovered it was a candle I had to find out where I get one. To my surprise, I could get it at the grocery store down the street! I bought the last one and went to my room, and ordered a box of them. They last a very long time and when people walk into my home they have the same reaction I did when I walked into the Inn at Langley.

Great smelling and long lasting

I visited a friend and she had a basil candle burning in her kitchen. I could have sworn she had bundles of fresh basil stashed all over the place, but NO! It was a candle! Ever since I have been in search of a basil candle for my kitchen. I was excited when I saw Mrs. Meyer's Soy Candle, Basil. I just recently had a chance to burn it and it did not smell like basil like the one my friend had, but it is still good! I wish I could have bought just ONE first so that I could sample it before having to buy SIX at a time.

This candle is so great and good value for the money, the fragrance is divine and smells like a very expensive candle.

I'm aware that this is entirely a matter of personal taste, but I gotta say that everyone in our family dislikes the Lemon Verbena version of this candle.First, we don't like the smell at all. It's cloyingly sweet, and not nearly as citrusy as we'd hoped. I know, "Lemon Verbena" is not "Lemon" ... but still. The smell is very perfumy compared to other candles we buy.Second, the candles have pretty bad wicks. The wicks are thick and "messy" - that is, they produce prodigious amounts of burnt "fluff" that then settle into the wax of the candle. They just seem to be cheap wicks. And after a while they become reluctant to light.Now, of course, there's a large upside to candle that comes in its own jar, with a screw-on lid. But there it ends, at least for us.My suggestion would be to find a local source for these, try one or two, and see what you think before ordering a case of six, as we foolishly did. You may find that you like them; you may not.We'll use them, but we're looking forward to finishing the last one so we can get some more pleasant-smelling candles with subtler scents and better wicks.
