Great Watch at a Fair Price
Seiko has been known for quality watches for a number of years. They have offered quartz watches in the past which keep time extraordinarily well. The Seiko solar watch is an extension to that in that it uses a solar (photovoltaic) cell behind the watch face to charge a small lithium battery and reduce or eliminate the need for battery replacement (rechargeable batteries do wear out and eventually need to be replaced but only after many, many charge-discharge cycles). The battery in the Seiko solar should last a long time and it can be replaced by a watch repair shop should the need ever arise. When charged, the battery will power the watch for well over a month, but the idea is that under normal conditions, the battery will stay charged, one less worry for the wearer. The Seiko solar has a rated accuracy of plus or minus 15 seconds a month and usually does better than that (my previous Seiko quartz was more like 5 seconds per year!). Time is easy to set and the watch has a white on black day/date readout on the right side of the dial (also easy to set). One possible minus is that the dial and hands are not phosphorescent (in this model) and are invisible in the dark, but for me that is a minor issue. The Seiko comes with a clasp-type band, all in stainless steel for an outstanding look. The large dial is a deep blue and sports white hour, minute, and second hands on the deep blue background. My only complaint is the band which is a bit stiff and needs adjusting to an individual's wrist size. I'm used to a Twist-O-Flex band (which can be installed on this watch) but the band provided is well made and looks fantastic so I'm using it with little regret. The band length can be adjusted (easy to do but you might want to take it to a shop - Google the procedure), and you will probably find this necessary as the band comes ready for a large sized wrist. With its stainless steel case and matching band, this watch is a beauty in most all respects. With sales in progress, this quality watch comes at a price that's a very good deal for such a high quality watch without the lower accuracy mechanical movements provide, and the plus that potentially, no maintenance will be required other than adjusting the date on months with less than 31 days.

A beautiful and extremely well made watch
I’ve had the watch for 4 months. When I first got it I set it to the atomic clock that appears on my phone. It was 4 seconds fast but I didn’t bother fixing that.I just checked it again 4 months later. It’s still 4 seconds fast! The accuracy and beauty of this watch are amazing.

Seiko is dead reliable, the watch face is beautiful and for this price, it's gorgeous.
Look, it's a Seiko ok? It's dead accurate (they invented the quartz movement) and it's very reliable, it doesn't have any lume so it's only readable in light but who cares, it's not expensive at all. Battery life is basically infinite unless you live in a cave and these can easily go for 10 years without needing a replacement. It looks like it's worth ten times as much as it cost.

Very nice watch
First of all, this is a very nice watch. It is very sturdy, and feels solid. It is not oversized or clunky, and is not small to the point of being difficult to read at arms length. Some other reviews say the bracelet/band feels light or cheaply made. I do not think this is the case. The links are solid, seemingly well made and have a nice weight to them. That being said, I do have two issues/topics of interest I would like to bring to attention.1. The two links on either side of the case (displayed in pictures) have two marks each where the links rub against the case/lugs. The watch’s poked like this straight out of the packaging, and will likely worsen over time. I do not find this as a huge issue, as they are barely noticeable and difficult to capture in a picture. You would not notice the marks if someone was sitting next to you wearing this watch, unless you were doing a thorough inspection.2. There are two sets of days of the week. One in English and one in Arabic (I think, I could be wrong). This is also not a huge problem because whatever language you choose, it will change keeping the same language. The days will change, say Monday to Tuesday on its own, sometime between roughly 1:00am and 3:00am, but must cycle through the day depicted by the other language as well. It does not jump directly from Monday to Tuesday. There is Monday in Arabic before Tuesday. It is convenient Seiko made the change happen after midnight, as you will likely not see the change unless you are a night owl and plan on staying up late.Neither of these topics are of great significance, and the watch functions as it should, looks great, charges quickly/consistently, and is a great value for the money. I can’t speak on the water resistance because I have not tested it out, but will take Seiko's word for it as they are a well respected company. I would highly recommend this watch for you, or as a gift for someone else.

Great watch!
Seiko watches are great quality and not out of a reasonable price range. Not many people wear wrists watches these days, it seems, but I’ve been wearing a Seiko for 50+ years and couldn’t imagine being without it.

Great everyday watch, but manufacturer errors
This is the everyday watch I wanted. The solar charge has been working great. The dial color always seems blue to me, others have said it may appear darker, but I have never experienced that. The drawback is there is no illumination...not for me, but for you if that's a deal breaker. My review want down to a "3" because the dial/case is not positioned right. It is slightly off center. The second/minute hands also are in about 15 seconds of error from each other, so i had to offset the error when setting time. And again, because everything is slightly off center, the second hand will sometimes hit its tick, and the next second be off center. You would expect better quality from Seiko. I have older Seiko watches and you would never see these errors.
