Very comfortable, but lacking in quality
I purchased these boots as a work boot. I am a pipefitter working in underground utilities. After 2.5 months of hard use, here are my thoughts...Pros: a) Maintains waterproofness b) comfortable, able to stand and work all day without extreme discomfortC) quality lacesCons: Although the soles are lasting longer than I thought they would, they are still wearing out pretty quickly. The eyelets are pulling away from the leather. The leather uppers are buttery smooth, but absolutly lack decent quality. They seem to stretch out over time. The uppers might be okay for hipsters, or clothing enthusiasts, but is severely lacking for a workboot. The stitching is pulling out, and while on comparable boots you see triple stitching along the lacing flaps, these only have a double stitch. These boots never seem to be tight enough, and the lacing design seems to allow heel slippage. The comfort is the best thing about these boots. The wedge sole, although wearing quickly is nice for people on their feet all day. For comfort alone, these boots average a 3 star. Other than that, I will not purchase these again, and almost regret spending 189.00 dollars on them. I could have chosen a different brand. This is also my first red wing /irish setter boot, and they are not impressive. I got better use out of my cheaper cabelas branded boots.

He works with concrete pretty much all day long
My husband bought a pair of these from a store about 3 years ago and we haven't been able to find them since. He has been wearing other work boots instead and he goes through about 3 or 4 pairs a year usually. He works with concrete pretty much all day long, so it is frustrating for him to find a pair of boots that he likes and then have them discontinued from a store's stock. THANKFULLY we found these. They are exactly what he had 3 years ago, and they fit perfect. He says they are very comfortable and they ARE waterproof. His feet in normal boots are frequently cracked and orange colored from the boots being wet inside and the color from the boots staining his feet, and concrete dries them out. But these have kept them dry, and don't discolor his feet! GREAT buy. I will say that if whoever wears them works with anything like concrete that dries stuff out quickly that you should buy extra laces. My husband can usually wear these boots for about 6 months instead of 3 if he buys like 6 sets of laces and replaces them!

Best work boots on the market
I buy these for my iron worker husband every Christmas. He has worn them for at least 10 years and says that there is no better work boot on the market. They have great support, withstand every kind of weather, burns from the welds, climbing kicking, whatever. When I say he beats these to death, it's an understatement. I have these on the price tracker website (camelcamelcamel.com) so I get an alert when they're on sale. You absolutely can't beat the price you get them for on Amazon if you're patient and wait for the sales. I saved $100 off the price we get them for from any of the stores that carry them, even with the union discount card.

Comfort and protection!
These are the best boots! My husband is a farmer as well as runs a small trucking company. He wears his boots daily (15+ hours some days) and no boot compares to Irish Setters. We have tired some other cheaper brands but they don't last like these are just not as comfortable. They may cost a little more but well worth the extra money for his feet to be protected and comfortable at the end of a long day. **update** we live in northern Minnesota and these are horrible on ice! The bottoms are so hard that my husband has fallen several times. Need to put them away until spring which sucks due to the price I paid for them.

Top of the Line
I've worn these for 6 months now, they're truly the best boots I have ever owned.I wear them for about 12 hours a day, the comfort has never been an issue.Through heavy field use in all seasons, I can attest they're fully waterproof, durable, sturdy, and warm. They are also comfortable to wear on concrete floors all day. They are not big and clunky, which was important for me, but still offer quality support. (If you require composite/steel toe-these probably won't work-no complaints, they're just a soft toe)So far, the sole seems 100% attached-no signs of coming loose. (I've lost dozens of boots after 1 year to the sole falling off-I don't see that happening with these)I have no complaints.

Nice Boots for light to moderate work.
I heard so much about these boots, I decided I should get a pair for working around the woods and field. I like the a lot, but they are a bit warm and I noticed my feet sweet slightly when I work hard. I will powder the boots and see how it goes. The boots are comfortable, have plenty of room in toe box and fit true to size. About the Size: The description is wrong the standard size width is D the wide is EE. I where a wide boot order the wide ended up with EE which is extra wide. No worries, I tried then on with thick socks and it's fine for winter and a thin boot sock for summer. I would recommend these, I really don't see them as a hard use construction boot. Thanks

Quality
Best boots I’ve ever worn. On my 5 pair. The tread wears out in about 6-9 months. The leather was soft from the beginning and didn’t really break down over the year. The tongue is sown inside so jumping through spoil piles wont let dirt in your boots. They stayed dry all day after walking in water. Took a day to dry after. The laces were the only thing to wear out. The insert soles are very weak. Buy your own.

Outstanding
First pair sole came appart within 2 weeks due to a QC issue. Was sent a replacement pair overnight and they are fantastic. These boots are the most comfortable boots Ive ever owned. Better than Justins, Danner, thoughrogood......As far as longevity we will have to see.My father has used these boots for 15 yrs at about a pair every 18 months of abuse. So Im hopeful. However, regardless if I get 18 months or 18 years I will be buying another pair to replace this one.Work all day, hunt all day, sit all day, it doesnt matter; theyre amazingly comfortable no matter what your doing.

Fits like a Readwing should
Comfort not right out of the box, but shortly there after as they were slightly stiff. A real feeling of quality when you lace up the boot. Feels great in the woods or field. I have climbed mountains of Elk Valley of BC with these. The tread while not aggressive feels stable enough in the situations I've come across. The comfort is excellent. The leather is beautiful. The sole is stable. I use leather conditioner with bees wax to keep the leather water repellent on all my leather boots. These boots should many last years.

Best boots out there
I bought my first pair in 2011 and have never worn a different boot since. These are comfortable out of the box, no break in required. The leather lasts forever. I wear these 40+ hours a week and get 8-12 months out of them before I take them in to get re-soled and have some stitching touched up. I usually get a new pair while the old ones are in for repair and keep them as back ups.

Quality
For a pair of expensive boots they send them with odd size laces on isn’t long enough to even tie up, deliver was swift not impressed about the laces, boots are quite heavy also.

These are the best boots ever made
I have been wearing Red Wing Irish Setter boots for 40 years + for work and casual. These are the best boots ever made! Warm, comfortable, water proof. Never disappointed . Only wish they were easier to purchase locally and more affordable for Canadians, the 110 dollar brokerage fee coming from the US is ridiculous!
