This stuff is AMAZING!
I picked up a gallon bottle to preserve a chair made from pressure treated wood 5 years ago. I treated it once and then applied a second coat a few days later. I have not applied any since then. The chair shows none of the typical signs of being in the weather for all that time. It can be applied with a roller, brush or sprayer. It quickly soaks into the wood and seals the fibers from the inside. Other wood preservative products will form a seal on the surface of the wood that is evident by the beading of water. Don't expect the same effect with this product. Water will not bead on the surface because the fibers themselves are sealed. That's what makes this stuff great. It won't wear off after a season of use. It becomes part of the wood. The manufacturer boasts that the silica component of the formula pushes the wood into the early stages of petrifaction. I guess it's too early for me to observe that, but the wood has not cracked, checked, warped, twisted, been infested by bugs, or shown any signs of rot. I used less than a half gallon to thoroughly cover every surface of this large chair twice. I plan to get a five gallon can to coat my new fence and another can to protect my future pool deck. Feel free to spend money every year on a surface treatment. I'll invest once in Petri-Wood and be done with it.

We'll know in about 10 years whether or not it does what it says it will do, however, the wood definitely did change texture shortly after it was applied. Time will tell. If it does in fact, petrify the wood it is a bargain verses painting and or staining every few years
