Like other reviewers, I bought this combo back in early 2020, and in just one year, one of the batteries is dead. Doesn't show up in charger, can't charge through the GoPro either. It's like it's not even there.But unlike the other review I saw, I wasn't using these regularly. Since the pandemic, they've mostly been gathering dust, with the exception of the odd squirrel video. So it definitely wasn't overuse that killed it.It was the battery I last used, too. So around January 2021 would have been when it last worked, and then while sitting in the GoPro, died.For the price though, it's not a bad deal. Really like the options the charger gives me. Maybe next year I'll actually get to use this thing more and warrant buying another battery. For now the two I have will work.

Pro:It's cheap and it works !Cons:When you use the usb extension to charge it makes the screen go oddly dark. It heats up the unit too much and makes it look like something is broken. I sent my first unit back because of that when my second unit did the same thing I figure it's common across these models. If it freaks you out just charge it using one of the other charging ports.

Charges well and the batteries fit fine in the GoPro Hero 8, but when you insert these a warning comes up on the GPH8 screen telling you to use their battery or some of the functionality will be disabled. Not sure if that’s true, but I am not using these batteries for that reason. However, the charger works for the GPH8 batteries as well, so I can charge both of those at the same time.

Pretty shocked by this little charger, and the batteries that come with it! My biggest pet peeve about the GoPro was you had to install one battery at a time into the camera to charge it, so I found this. Well, not only do the 2 batteries that come with it work like the GoPro ones, but the charger is SUPER handy! The little screen is a nice addition, although other than telling you it’s fully charged or not, really doesn’t do much. That said, the charger with the low profile built in USB is pretty awesome! Works great so far, would only worry if the built in USB cable broke, what I would do then. However, it hasn’t broke yet and has been working great! DEFINITELY recommend this for a great charger, but also great batteries!!

I originally purchased this charger & battery set in December 2020. I have used both batteries several times with no issues until now (February 2021), and one of the batteries won’t even show it’s even on the charger. I tried the “dead” battery in both charge ports with no success. The other battery and the original GoPro battery seem to be charging fine—regardless of which port I choose—and they are working as expected. The SmilePowo battery is pretty comparable to the GoPro original as far as battery life on a single charge, although the GoPro bests the SmilePowo by ~5-7 minutes on average.Overall, I think the charger is useful and I like the built-in hideaway USB cable, but it does need to be really close to the wall block since the cable is only maybe 7” in length. The batteries for me are obviously hit and miss — one worked for a year, and is now permanently dead, the other appears to be ok.In retrospect I wish I had purchased a different brand, perhaps one with a better reputation and more positive reviews. I would have gladly spent more money initially to have two working batteries after one year, instead of just one.

Charger unit is excellent/versatile in that it is compact and can be powered by the attached cord or a longer cord you provide. Has 2 power inputa for micro usbor usb-c cords.Battery life is definitely just a little less than the stock gopro batteries. Still worth it though for the price savings.

Bought for a gift for my cousin sent to him opened today 7 12 2021 2 days before return date is up ..go figure ..said charger does charger his original go pro batterys .dont battery dont work at all

Might work in summer, but it’s practically useless in the winter. After a full battery charge it works for 3 to 5 minutes for winter activities like skiing. I find it a waste of money
