You must wash off the protective layer
After softening the bristles in warm water, using this brushes was very nice. So far I've used them with watercolor and I enjoyed the process. The packaging is adorable which is also a plus. I have not used them with acrylic or gouache but I can post an update if needed.

Do you like natural boing in your brushes?
These are just lovely! I an using them for watercolor. The absorb and hold water excellently! These have quickly become one of my favorite brush sets. I Wish they had more in this series, like a cat's tongue and a mop, the light pink color is also beautiful! The handles might be wood, i'm not sure but they do not feel like plastic at all. Much more like a painted wood. Love the long handles , warm feel and excellent water delivery. I feel confident that most artist would be happy! Last point is the fibers. They feel natural, maybe goat, or boar. They are course, not soft like sable. However they have excellent "boing" ya know they snap back. I like that in my brushes. Some like super soft, fibers that are less "boing'ie"? All in all sweet excellence

Perfect inexpensive hog hair brushes
I used these for the Miya HIMI gouache set I bought along with this, and I’m impressed! They’re hog hair so you can use them with gouache or oil paints if you want. I would recommend to others!

Lovely brushes! I reccomend them!
These brushes are absolutely lovely! Based upon reviews, I didn't know what to expect. These brushes have a very nice spring in them. The bristles are,of course, hog hair which can be very rough. You should expect a little bit of split ends - that is actually good in hogs hair brushes. It helps to hold more paint as well as keeps the bristles together.I'm very pleased with these brushes for use with gouache. I would recommend them to anyone who doesn't want to break the bank with brushes. Very nice!As always, have a very blessed day!

Good beginner OIL Brushes!
These are a great little set of oil brushes for beginners. They were a good value for money, they’re, medium-long handle and will get you used to stepping away from a painting a bit.HOWEVER, these brushes *SWELL* when placed in water. So while they MIGHT be good for acrylics, since acrylic paint is pigment and basically plastic, if you don’t get every single drop of paint out of these, they will then spread that paint along EVERY OTHER PROJECT you every have.Save yourself the hassle, use these as oil, clean them as such, WITH SPIRITS!, and get different brushes for your watercolor and acrylic paints. (Gouache is watercolor, use your watercolor brushes.) it’s really not a racket, the paints are different and require differences in their brushes.

PRETTY IN PINK!
What a happy, pretty pink box to open on this snowy Denver day! The box the brushes came in was marvelous quality, lined with raffia. Pale pink, long handles, hog hair brushes. While I don't have a constant need for hog bristles in my watercolor career, it's nice to have these affordable, pretty ones in my arsenal! The darker pink synthetic brushes in the jar are from Wonder Forest, so it makes me happy to see all of my pretty pink painting accessories at hand, in full view. And the brushes are excellent quality, tight ferrule, wooden handles. I enjoy working with different brushes, so these should be fun! I may keep the box too--also quality! I highly recommend these brushes for every age, every painting medium. Just LOVE them!

Nice brushes with two bad apples.
So I bought these brushes to go with the gouache set and they did pretty good for hog hair. There's two brushes that didn't do so well. It's was a small more rounded with no tip and a flat brush. I had to keep cutting away some of the bristles so they won't stick out and ruin the painting. Overall pretty good.

Great beginner set of long-handled brushes!
These brushes are really great quality, especially for beginners but they do resemble my husband's higher priced brushes. There is a little bit of fallout, but very minimal for my set. The only reason they are tricky to clean is because they are white brushes, but good brush cleanser helps. The handles are extremely long so for those of us who are used to field sketchbooks, they are a bit intense, but great for work with an easel.
