Great plastic free alternative to plastic interdental brushes

I bought these as a plastic free substitute for TePe and am very happy with the overall performance. It has taken me a few attempts to get the right size as they do not correspond to TePe sizing. I would say I use the middle sizes on Tepe but with these have to use the two largest sizes. I love that these are plastic free (and even the plastic covering on the top of each pikster is plastic free as it’s made from corn starch). So handy to have a cover for each new stick unlike Tepe. The brush length is shorter than Tepe sticks but they certainly cover the width of my teeth. I’m not sure about the comment regarding the brush not being as adequate, I would say make sure the brush is wide enough for the gap. The best thing about these sticks is the durability, the Tepe brushes would constantly break on me, don’t know if that’s because the brushes on those are too long and end up bending about too much. Every single Pikster I’ve used has lasted the whole duration of using it. Overall, I’m very happy with the plastic free swap.

My dentist gave me tepe interdent brushes sizes 1.1, 0.8, 0.7. but as they are plastic I looked for eco alternative. I used the advice on the site to order the corresponding sizes, but in reality they do not size match tepe. I ordered extra fine, fine and size 5, but are all about the same size as the red tepe size. Very annoying, size 5 was half the size it should have been if the sizing had been correct.

OK, so I haven't yet used them and will update this review when I have. However, I have a major issue with the packaging on a supposedly environmentally friendly product. Firstly, it was impossible to open the cardboard package without ripping it, which means that I cannot reseal it. A bit of a problem, for a product you wish to keep clean in the bathroom cabinet. Secondly, each individual picker has its own plastic cover. Surely, wrapping them all in paper to keep them clean, and providing a single metal cover for the one actually in use woud be better. I really wanted to like this product, but not impressed so far.

The handle came off the first one of these I used leaving the metal wire to dig into my lip. Haven't had the same problem with the 90deg ones.

I love the concept of eco friendly inter dental brushes as I am looking to live a more zero waste lifestyle. These are good on that score, however they are impossible to use, the brush head bends when you try and clean your teeth with it. Unusable!
