Love Me, Love Me Not, Vol. 1 (1)

I cannot express how much I love Io Sakisaka and all her mangas. If you loved Ao Haru Ride or Strobe Edge you will most certainly like this story as well. The artwork is beautiful, with emotions evoked in every panel. What I love the most about it is that something as simple as a side glance or the nape of the person you likes neck can bring about a butterfly of feelings and she portrays it so well with her art style. The story is heartwarming with a heavy focus on the two girls friendship as well as their relationships with the two main boys. Each character is well developed and very likable, even if they have some faults and most importantly, they grow and learn from their mistakes. They are all very human, but at the same time, characters that you admire and would strive to be like. I am absolutely in love with this series and can hardly wait for the next books to come out!

Well, I usually prefer rom-coms to straight shojo, however, I had heard good things, & I rather like the covers. Very good start to the story. About halfway through, I realized that there was something going on involving the sister & brother. The brief interaction the girl had with her mother made it apparent that something was amiss. I thought it to be something other than what it turned out to be. I know, I know! You hate the suspense. So read this, already! I hate to give away the juicy stuff too soon :P :D ;) art, very different, but so so good. The girls eyes, my God, they are just hauntingly beautiful. Dialogue, a little slow at times, but good overall. Characters, believable, likeable, relatable.

I enjoyed how this mangka can write such sweet and heart throbbing stories that sound outdone, but is able to make such loveable characters that make the story flow. I was disappointed a little when the character designs didn't balance the way I'd like. (Rio x Yuna and Akari x Kazu) but I really like the way the characters are made to deal with issues and they don't beat around for too long.

I love the characters and the plot. The art is beautiful and the story has me at the edge of my seat!

Story: ★★★★☆Art: ★★★★☆I can't get enough of Sakisaka's eyes. Truly lovely art.This volume is off to a strong start. We have two girls who fall in love differently who have become friends, but they're not actually that different from each other. Insecurity, fear, doubt… Both girls deal with these emotions, but display their struggle in different ways. I am so impressed how different their personalities are.Sakisaka is a strong storyteller. The four main characters are distinct and unique with compelling stories that draw the reader in. I look forward to enjoying the professional translation of this series.

I really enjoyed this first volume, The characters are really well written. We get to see these two girls different takes on love. Friendships and adolescent love blossom. You also get to see how their perspective changes as they meet new people and enter high school. It’s a sweet book and it leaves off on a really good place for the next volume. I really recommend it :) !!

Absolutely wonderful artwork and story. Only downfall was I was so hooked I finished it in less than a day.

Def was interesting and took a bit to really get this moving but now I’m invested okay 😂😂 I so need to start the next volume soon

... is what I’d like to say but is it? In some ways the love triangles, quadrangle, missed pairs and turmoils are very familiar but in this charming rom-com the characters do show real awareness, a willingness to learn and change and they two protagonists’ differing viewpoints of love make for a powerfully engaging dynamic.And now I’m off to get volume 2 - see you next time!
