Nice and Simple with a fun dash of messiness
My little one loves volcanoes, so this was the perfect toy - and there’s no complicated chemicals to mix. All you need is water to activate the dissolving egg inside the volcano, which gives you fizzy red lava and reveals a little toy. Some notes of caution, it will make a mess, so place it in a container or on a towel. We used a plastic shoe box. Also, kids will want to play with the red liquid, which is fine, but it will stain clothes and turn their finger orange. Hands can easily be cleaned with some soap and water.

Great toddler activity!
I bought this set for my 4 year old and we had so much fun experimenting! It’s a great value for the price and is super cute! The instructions are easy to read and they give you recipes for 5 different experiments. I would recommend purchasing more extra beaker creatures fizz bombs because the set only includes one and your kids will want more. I liked this set so much that I purchased a second as a gift. I made sure to purchase several extra fizz bombs this time. A great purchase and a great gift! I would highly recommend!

Fun with Science
This wasn't my first time doing a volcano experiment with my five year old son. However, the Learning Resources Beaker Creatures Bubbling Volcano Reactor was probably the easiest and most fun one we've done. It comes with a pod, so all you have to do is put it in the base and add water. The instructions show a pair of grabber tweezers which aren't included, but really a spoon or fingers or whatever you have would be fine. I couldn't find our tweezers, so we used a scooper for a fine motor challenge. Since I put the volcano on a tray outside, I poured off the water into a cup 2-3 times and let my son repour it into the volcano to keep it going. It bubbles quite a bit and takes several minutes to totally dissolve the pod. My son was excited about extracting and identifying the creature, and of course, he wants to collect more. The creature Twinkle is about the size of a nickel and came in a little see through container that my son needed help opening. The replacement pods are a little pricey, but will be nice to use as rewards, stocking stuffers, Easter basket, etc. I was happy that the base is very easy to clean and can be reused. Three other volcano experiments and a geode experiment which use common household ingredients (baking soda, food coloring, vinegar, dish soap, vegetable oil, salt and corn starch) are provided in the instructions. The Beaker Creature can be used to observe if he settles to the bottom or gets pushed to the surface in the various volcanos.

Bath Bomb surprised toy DOES dissolve
I was very happy with this purchase. It was exactly what I was looking for to use as a science experiment with a kindergarten curriculum. It was easy to clean, the mess went into my pan, and was easy to dump into the sink. I saw many reviews that stated that the bath bomb-like surprise toy didn’t dissolve. I wasn’t expecting too much from that, but started thinking outside of the box…how do bath bombs dissolved? In HOT water in a bathtub. So I got hot water from my sink and put it in the microwave for an additional minute to get it really hot. Then, I poured it on top of the bath bomb surprise toy and it dissolved immediately and spilled over the volcano like it was supposed to. Would but again.

Good plastic volcano but poor eruptions
The plastic volcano is made very well & perfect for reusing (what kid doesn't want to do it again). However the eruption pods are terrible quality & barely fizz. You get a much better eruption by pouring water over equal parts baking soda & red Kool aid. Definitely keeping the olastic volcano portion for that reason but would NOT recommend wasting your money on additional pods from them. We've brought several toys from this brand before & usually enjoy them but this one has been the worst yet.

Great science activity the kids can do on their own
This is by far the most popular science activity I use with my preschool students as well as my grandchildren. If you have young children, don't even think about it! Just purchase this for your kiddos!!

Avoid - not worth the cost
Terrible product. The beakers don’t dissolve - they just sit there in a clump. Also the directions on the box differ from those on the instructions. I reached out to customer service thinking the product was defective because we tried three beakers and received the same results. Zero help. You are better off making a DIY volcano with baking soda, food coloring and vinegar.

Mein Sohn war echt enttäuscht. Für den Preis hatte ich auch mehr erwartet. Erstens war es nicht mal rot, sollte Lava ja sein. 2. kam fast keine Reaktion.
