Luluco’s dad has been frozen in a block of ice, and there’s only one way for this middle schooler to pay for the treatment—by taking his place in the Space Patrol! It’s a total pain, until she gets partnered with some perfect crush material, a.k.a. the handsome Nova from outer space. After her hometown of Ogikubo gets sucked into a black hole, it’s up to Luluco and a bunch of weirdos to track it down.

Studio Trigger, you never disappoint!
When it comes to Hiroyuki Imaishi's work, he seems to make anything that could easily be hated suddenly becomes absolutely admirable. Hiroyuki Imaishi was the director of Studio Gainax's Gurren Lagann and Trigger's Kill La Kill. Similar to Hatsune Miku, Space Patrol Luluco was made to promote a character as a mascot for Studio Trigger. The result of this turned out nothing but amazing! The story follows a young girl named Luluco who wants nothing more than to just be normal. In this case, Earth is met with aliens. They live in harmony with humans... Or so we think. Of course, Luluco's father accidentally eats up a certain package that froze him solid. Luluco freaks out and tries to save him. Unfortunately, Luluco is appointed by Over Justice of Space Patrol to take his place and fight crime. Little does she know she could transform into an over sized gun. Luluco comes across a young man named Nova who crash lands on Earth and seeks to fight crime as well. So now Luluco, Nova and their unlikely ally, Medori, are on a quest to battle evil in any form. Looking at this story's premise, it doesn't sound much. In fact, it's silly. And yeah, this is incredibly silly. However, this turns out to be one of the best romance comedies in anime that i've watched in 2017. The characters (including Luluco; the main character) are likable and have identifiable personalities. Luluco herself is very likable. Asides the fact that she's moe, she's also interesting on how she tries to cope with the fact that she isn't what she seems. Nova's the typical pretty boy, but luckily this story made it better for this to work. Since this was in the perspective of Luluco, this not only went in depth with how teenage girls would think of boys, but also how smart it is to giving Luluco a likable personality. The cool thing about it is that Luluco and Nova don't immediately fall in love in episode 1... Well, sort of. Luluco has a crush on Nova, but doesn't seem to exactly know how to approach him in a romantic light. There's a good amount of chemistry between these two. This anime also has a lot of fun making fun of overused tropes and does something awesome with them! It's even more hilarious when certain aspects of these anime tropes turn out to be somewhat the opposite effect of the formulaic structure that a lot of mainstream anime tend to fall for. The visual presentation is brilliant! Studio Trigger has made such an artistic world of personality and experimentation. This is the same studio that brought us other great entries like Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia and Kiznaiver. These guys know their stuff and deliver a good range of fast-paced animation while also softer moments that are just as beautiful as the action scenes. This anime features quite a few of references of their previous works and (while it doesn't objectively make it even better} it just feels more appreciative and respectful (especially for someone like myself who is a big Studio Trigger fan). There's not a single moment where i got bored by it. It's so engaging, especially if each episode is around 7 1/2 minutes. This does feel like a movie than an anime series, but regardless if this was originally going to be a movie, it's simply magnificent! Without giving too much away, it's not like how any romance story would go (and for a good reason). It's a really fun sci-fi adventure while also offering some heart-warming moments. If you happen to be on any of these categories:-Scf-fi-Romance-Studio Trigger-Comedy-...Anything really ...Give Space Patrol Luluco a chance! It delivers! This was literally one of the only good things i sat through in 2017 (and trust me, Studio Trigger doesn't disappoint).

Greatest anime that I ever watched
Honestly, I loved this anime because it's as if our main character who tries to live a normal, ordinary life can't have one because of all the crazy stuff (I can't even curse in this review) that has to happen to her. It's a combo for having cameos of characters from other animes from trigger (like Kill la Kill, Inferno Cop, and even Little Witch Academia), it's Action/Adventure, Romantic Comedy, and Sci-fi/Fantasy, and even how crazy the anime can even get. Even the voice acting can be so funny that I laughed my self off. So I guess I'm keeping this one and Funimation digital copy so I can watch this cool anime later.

Space Patrol Looney Toons
On the one hand, this series is pretty funny; on the other hand, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.Luluco is a 13-year-old normal human girl who desperately wants to stay that way; unfortunately, given the plot, that’s just not going to happen. As the series starts she is going to school with a bunch of space aliens and living with her Space Patrol dad after her parents broke up when he is suddenly frozen and she has to drag him to his office where she is informed that in order to unfreeze him she will have to take a job in the Space Patrol. Then things get complicated….The story is mostly concluded in the 13 episodes included though it obviously could continue; however, I’m not sure how much you or I would care either way. (This isn’t a show you are likely to watch and rewatch; once in a while is likely to be plenty.)

Hilarious.
Watched this with my mom and her reaction from episode 1 was "ok, wtf are we watching tho" to the last episode (a lil teary eyed): "ok this is actually somehow really cute." Ah, the power of anime. It's ridiculous and over the top with some really high quality animation. (I mostly mean the movement not the rendering) I def reccomend if you like silly stuff.

Great, but a bit short
I really enjoyed this show, it was funny and cute the whole run. It is however, very short, and I didn't realize that going in.

Gold Standard for Trigger
This is without a doubt my favorite anime from Trigger, weaving together the universe of all of its shows. You get tons of cool crossovers from Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, and Inferno Cop. If you want a fast paced, high octane show, I say you pick up Luluco. Its the craziest love story ever and all the characters are super likeable.

An absolute blast!
Great series. A lot of fast dialog so it's good to have the dub so you can watch the animation instead of spending a lot of time speed reading. The dub itself isn't great. Lines have been changed that shouldn't have been. Voice characterizations don't match the characters as well as the original Japanese voices. The series itself is an absolute blast!
